The Cassias system is home to at least one habitable world, Cassias I, and as at 3145 Cassias was located in the Barlow's End Prefecture of the New Samarkand Military District within the Draconis Combine.[2][3]

System Description

The Cassias system is located near the McGehee and Udibi systems[2][3] and consists of at least one world orbiting a class M5Ia primary.[1]

System History

The Cassias system was colonised at some point during or shortly after the First Exodus from Terra and was one of the systems that signed the Crucis Pact to form the Federated Suns in 2317.[4]

Cassias I

Cassias I - more commonly known simply as Cassias - is the innermost planet in the Cassias system and has four moons named Bambang, Budiono, Kinjuri and Ramah.[1]

Planetary History

Cassias is a tropical world located on the Draconis Combine/Federated Suns border. It also acted as the border between the "Outback" and the more densely populated inner systems of the Federated Suns. Originally settled by Islamic Indonesians in the twenty-fourth century, Cassias grew into one of the AFFS' most important regional commands. For centuries Cassias served as a staging area in every major Federated Suns offensive against the Combine. Even outside of war, the world served as a base for deep-penetration raiding forces and as a forward command post.[1]

Though it was highly prized for its location Cassias had a thriving agricultural industry based on textiles, rubber, and timber. There were also many common ores, petroleum deposits, and gemstones as well. All these exports provided a high standard of living for native Cassians.[1]

By the thirty-first century the inhabitants of Cassias lived on three continents: Borneo, Java, and Kalimantan. Their cities however were frequently found inside atmospheric domes to protect the inhabitants from the higher than average concentration of nitrogen in the atmosphere. The planet had many atmospheric scrubbers that had converted the atmosphere to something more hospitable to humans, but the cities remained domed.[1]

Having been subject to a number of deep raids across several worlds by Federated Suns commandoes and Draconis March forces seeking POWs from the FedCom Civil War in early August 3068[5], the Draconis Combine retaliated by launching a series of raids and attacks against Federated Suns worlds. The retaliatory attacks took place in the second week of September, and Cassias was one of the worlds hit by a raiding force.[6]
