BT History vs. Reality[edit]

The BattleTech timeline goes all the way back to the 21st century (2005). This causes a dilemma: should Years include events in the real world (1984)? What should be the policy? Thanks. --Ebakunin (talk|contribs) 15:55, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

I would say, only if these real-world-events have something to do with BattleTech. If we go further, the article-content would become arbitrary (and we are not wikipedia). --Detlef 17:19, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
I was that lonely Editor who wrote that article, back in the early days of BTW. To be honest, I really don't think it is relevant, and for clarity's sake, suggest we delete it. As Detlef said, we are no WP and I think only real-world events that are referenced in the BattleTech lore should be included in the timeline. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 18:12, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Restarting this, with an eye to the 1944 article. To what extent do we seek to cover nonfictional history here? Personally, I was unsure about the Takeo Kurita (20th c.) article already; the entry fof the Battle off Samar in 1944 is so tenuously connected to BT that I feel it is over the line. I have similar feelings about the Royal Black Watch Regiment article to the point that it is one of a very small number of articles on the wiki I actively stay away from because if I start, I am likely to end up removing most of the article.--Dmon (talk) 17:39, 11 April 2020 (EDT)
I agree with this suggestion: "...only real-world events that are referenced in the BattleTech lore should be included in the timeline."--Cache (talk) 18:49, 11 April 2020 (EDT)

Cleanup[edit]

I start my year page cleanup, it refers to the Policy:Year Pages there is only one wiki link allowed.--Doneve 16:40, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
