Chaine Cluster
System Information
X:Y Coordinates-235.00:568.69[e]

The Chaine Cluster is a collection of seven systems in a single stellar cluster and as at 3145 was located in the Chainelane Isles.[1][2]

System Description

The Chaine Cluster is located near the Far Reach and Rondane systems[1][2] and was likely either the system that gave the Chainelane Isles its name, or was named for the minor Periphery region.[3] The Cluster consists of seven star systems: Turpin, Corell, Aeryn, Alnabog, Hillburg, Brekke, and Dark Mist.[4]

System History

The Chaine Cluster was settled at some point after the end of the First Succession War and the collapse of the Rim Worlds Republic.[5] There was nothing special about the Cluster, so the Rim Worlds Republic did not use it for anything other than a JumpShip recharge station. The only system to attract any development was Brekke: The Rim Worlds Republic used it to house a small WarShip and DropShip maintenance facility. This facility largely consisted of unpressurized repair bays and a components facility. The fall of the Republic saw the facility abandoned. Brekke was occupied by the Empire of the Stars, a small local polity, and they used it as their main government facility. However, by the late thirty-first century the Empire of the Stars had died off.[4] For many years a large number of pirate and smuggling bands used the Chaine Cluster systems as their base.[6]

In 3064 Clan Diamond Shark launched Operation SWEEP. The Diamond Sharks' Predator Galaxy spent the next five years claiming all seven systems. All the inhabitants of these systems were inducted into the Clan's Laborer Caste. The Sharks quickly established production facilities on Alnabog, Corell, and Hillburg. The Brekke naval yard was upgraded and improved with a mobile factory secured from Clan Snow Raven. By 3080 the facility was five times its original size and could repair most naval vessels. The Sharks used this facility to repair and rehabilitate WarShips from the Wolves and Jade Falcons; in exchange those two Clans provided resources and military production.[4]

The Chaine Cluster was the center of Diamond Shark activity in the Chainelaine Isles. The Sharks have paid little or no attention to the rest of the Isles.[4]
