History

The lead formation of the Clan Snow Raven touman, the Corvus Keshik was commanded by the Snow Raven Khan; attached to the Corvus Keshik was the Fleet Command Star, commanded by the Snow Raven saKhan. Service in the Keshik was limited to Bloodnamed warriors only, and the Keshik was fully combat effective despite also being responsible for parade drills and ceremonial duties.[1]

Deployed as a part of the Corvus Keshik, the Fleet Command Star was heavily involved in the campaign for control of Lum after the attack launched by Clan Steel Viper in September 3065, acquitting itself well, although the Fleet Command Star was unable to block the Steel Viper retreat, with saKhan Bryn Cooper dying during the attempt to destroy the withdrawing Viper forces. Cooper's death led to the elevation of Star Admiral Broderick Sukhanov, the commanding officer of the Brim Naval Assault Star, to the post of saKhan and command of the Fleet Command Star.[2]

The Dark Age

By 3085 the Corvus Keshik had been folded into Alpha Galaxy, as the Snow Ravens rebuilt following the losses taken during the Jihad and Wars of Reaving.[3]

In the mid-3140s the Keshik and the other elements within Alpha Galaxy replaced Beta Galaxy in the systems obtained from the Draconis Combine following the Palmyra Debacle. Viewed as being given Beta Galaxy's leavings, the assignment went poorly for the Keshik, particularly following Alpha Galaxy's earlier embarrassing defeats. Accustomed to displaying a highbrow attitude towards the population of the Raven Alliance, the Keshik's attempts to take the same approach with the population of Bad News resulted in a combination of violent protests and industrial strikes. The inhabitants of Bad News were convinced that it was only a matter of time before the Combine reasserted control over the planet, and had no wish to be identified as collaborating with an enemy of the Dragon. Similar problems were rife on Sinope and Zalaf, and massacres were reported on all three worlds, with all of Alpha Galaxy ill-equipped to deal with civilian protests.[4]
