History
The Covenant Guards is a diverse and disparate military brigade formed from a mix of planetary militia troops and mercenaries. The Covenant Guards are officially the military of the Covenant Worlds, a splinter state fashioned by the former Republic of the Sphere Paladin Thaddeus Marik in 3137. The Guards were founded after the Covenant Worlds allied with the nearby Oriente Protectorate economically; Thaddeus built and led the First Covenant Guards personally, even after his marriage to Jessica Marik and his assumption of the title of Warden-General.[1]
When the Oriente Protectorate and the Duchy of Andurien went to war following the Kwamashu incident elements from the First and Second Covenant Guards formed the Covenant Worlds Expeditionary Force and joined in strikes against the Duchy. Before Oriente finally sued for peace the Covenant Worlds Expeditionary Force successfully seized four worlds.
