The Dalton system was home to at least one habitable world, Dalton V, and as at 3145 was located in the Oriente Protectorate province of the Free Worlds League.[3][4]

System Description

The Dalton system is located near the Chilung and Jouques systems.[5]

System History

The Dalton system was colonized during Age of War.[6][7]

Dalton V

Template:InfoBoxPlanetStandard Dalton V - more commonly known simply as Dalton - is the fifth planet in the system and has three moons named Graves, Marshall and Trigg. During the thirty-first century an orbital production facility operated by Nimakachi Fusion Products was in place at the L2 point above Dalton, producing a number of different DropShip designs.[2]

Planetary History

Dalton is a water-rich world with stormy weather. These storms would commonly break levees where the SLDF troops on planet would assist in relief efforts. Star League troops on world would also regularly capture smugglers passing between the planets continents.[8][9]

Dalton's most famous resident was Hilda Lauber, the first wife of Janos Marik. The Dalton government went to great lengths to reward good work in every field, and as a result no-one was bitter and there was little discontent. The only downside to this practise was a lack of support for the arts; the residents of Dalton believed that there was no way to evaluate a work while the author was still alive. Artists and writers tended to leave Dalton and go to other worlds where their work was appreciated.[1]

By the mid-thirty-first century Dalton had been inhabited for almost six centuries, and for the entire of that period, the planet hadn't suffered a single earthquake. This was unique as the first probe that landed on the world in 2310 found a lot of seismic activity. Two hundred years later (in 2521) another probe detected no seismic activity.[1]

The Jihad

The arrival of the Sixth Oriente Hussars on Dalton was at first seen as a good thing, but it rapidly became clear that their arrival was the first step in the Duchy of Oriente annexing the system. Despite this, the citizens of Dalton went along with the annexation as they preferred it to becoming part of the Principality of Regulus.[2]
