The Deneb Algedi system is home to at least one inhabited world, Deneb Algedi II; as at 3145 Deneb Algedi was located within the Al Na'ir Prefecture of the Dieron Military District within the Draconis Combine.[2][3]

System Description

Located near the Nashira and Nirasaki systems,[2][3] the Deneb Algedi system consists of four planets orbiting a single class F6VI primary star.[1]

System History

The Deneb Algedi system was settled at some point during or shortly after the First Exodus from Terra and had been incorporated into the Alliance of Galedon by the time the Draconis Combine formed.[4]

Deneb Algedi II

Template:InfoBoxPlanetStandard Deneb Algedi II - more commonly known simply as Deneb Algedi - is the second planet in the system.[1]

Planetary History

Settled at some point before the end of the Age of War, Deneb Algedi was one of the worlds within the Lone Star Province of the Terran Hegemony by the end of the Age of War.[5][6] Deneb Algedi was first settled by colonists from Terra's Africa and South American continents looking to escape the oppressive Terran government; they adapted quickly to the arid conditions that cover the world, but the presence of the nayaraptor (an airborne predator that could grab and carry up to 90kg people) was a key limiting factor in the early years. Fortunately as time passed, the inhabitants were able to reduce the nayaraptor's numbers to safe levels; by the Dark Age, hunting the few remaining nayaraptors was a large part of the Deneb Algedi tourist industry, and the planetary government had established several huge hunting ranges on the island continent of OMbanwe.[1]

Jihad

Deneb Algedi was incorporated into the Word of Blake Protectorate during the Jihad, but by March 3077 had been liberated. However, the liberation of Deneb Algedi caused controversy in its' own right, as the allied coalition chose to garrison Deneb Algedi and the nearby - and also recently liberated - world of Telos IV with garrison forces from the Federated Suns. Where the DCMS had intended to deploy the Toguran Military Garrison and the New Samarkand Militia to garrison the worlds, these Combine forces were instead deployed to recently liberated worlds on the Free Worlds League front instead. Deneb Algedi found itself being garrisoned by the Valexa Capellan March Militia, an act which drew protests from Gunji-no-Kanrei Kiyomori Minamoto to General Belle Lee of the allied coalition.[7]

Geography

The largest continent on Deneb Algedi is Librios, a mountainous supercontinent that stretches almost from pole to pole. The island continent of Ombanwe is located in the planet's equatorial regions and is dominated by large areas of open desert and dried-out river basins. The Batambu Chain, an island chain consisting of six large rocky islands, stretches in a rough line from the southeastern peninsula of Librios to the western shore of Ombanwe.[1]

Planetary Locations

  • Hunter's Den: a resort city on the southeastern coast of Ombanwe; the only major human settlement on the continent in the thirty-second century.[1]
  • Nueva Santiago: the planetary capital city, located in a lush river valley on the northwestern edge of Librios.[1]
  • San Luerdes: site of the largest DropPort on the planet and a sprawling commercial city in its own right; located a few dozen kilometers from Nueva Santiago.[1]
