History

One of many WarShips to be disabled and abandoned or lost during the Star League era or the early Succession Wars, the Naga-class destroyer later known as the Divine Command was one of a number of ships recovered by the Word of Blake[1] and restored in secret.[2]

The WoBS Divine Command was one of three Naga-class destroyers to serve in the Blakist fleet during the Jihad;[1] prior to the Jihad, the Word of Blake was only known to be operating a small black water navy of some six WarShips, none of which were Nagas,[2] but the Word of Blake had secretly recovered three Nagas from sites around the Inner Sphere such as the abandoned Star League Defense Force facility known as the Ruins of Gabriel and restored them to operational status. These three Nagas were the Divine Command and her sister ships WoBS Celestial Threads and WoBS Enlightened Direction.[1]

All three Nagas had inoperable K-F Drives, and the Word of Blake deemed that the WarShips were not worth restoring to full working order. Instead, the decision was made to make the three vessels a key part of the SDS network protecting Terra. The first of the three Nagas to be restored, the Celestial Threads, was modified extensively with complex control systems which were designed to control Caspar II drone ships. The Celestial Threads went on to play a key part in the defense of Mars when Wolf's Dragoons launched Task Force Vengeance, and fought again during Case WHITE, the ComStar attack on Terra. By the time Case WHITE was launched all three Nagas had been converted to Caspar control ships, and while Case WHITE was an abject failure that saw the greater part of the Com Guard WarShip fleet destroyed, the ComStar WarShips managed to put both the Celestial Threads and Enlightened Direction out of commission, leaving Terra vulnerable.[3]

The Enlightened Direction couldn't be salvaged, but the Celestial Threads was restored to working order and she and the Divine Command were both subject to extensive modifications intended to increase their capabilities and, more importantly, their defenses. Additional armor plating was added to protect key components and systems on each ship, and extensive batteries of Multi-Missile Launcherss, Variable Speed Pulse Lasers, sub-capital weapons and Anti-Missile Systems were installed, significantly increasing the protection each ship had against AeroSpace Fighters and DropShips.[3]

These were not the only changes made to the Divine Command; the number of fighter bays were increased from six to eighteen, allowing her to carry a complement of Hive drone fighters, while nine pressurized repair bays were incorporated into her structure, allowing her to simultaneously service and repair six Tiamat-class drones and twelve Dragau-class drones. Lastly, the extensive control systems incorporated into the Divine Command allowed her to control a fleet of three dozen Caspar II drones.[3]

The Divine Command played a key part in the defense of Terra in 3078 when the allied coalition assembled by Devlin Stone launched an invasion as a part of Operation SCOUR, the campaign to liberate the Word of Blake Protectorate. The Divine Command and the Celestial Threads were both destroyed in action during the campaign, with the Divine Command being the last of the two to succumb to her enemies in orbit above Terra.[1]
