Planetary Info

First surveyed in 2236, El Dorado is a Terran planet roughly 15% larger than Earth itself with slightly higher gravity. It has 6 major continents (largest to smallest) of San Diego, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Santa Fe, Monterrey, and Durango are mostly outside the arctic circles. El Dorado has a large amount of arable land due to “The Super Lakes”, large fresh water lakes found on the largest continents of San Diego and Los Angeles.

El Dorado has one moon, known as Boulder, which appears silver and sapphire due to a dense nitrogen-carbon dioxide atmosphere and a global ocean.

Due to life cycle of the planet, El Dorado’s core temperature is slightly hotter than that of Earth’s which causes increased tectonic action. Over the many centuries of colonization, the populace has steered clear of the worst volcano and quake zones.[1]

Planetary History

During the late 23rd and early 24th centuries El Dorado was an important enough trading partner to nearby New Avalon that Jerome Davion, son of Adam Davion, served as the New Avalon ambassador to El Dorado from 2297 to 2306. El Dorado was vital to the commercial empire being built by Adam Davion and Nathan DuVall and which laid much of the groundwork for the future Federated Suns.[3]

During the First Succession War a raid by the Draconis Combine left El Dorado's JumpShip yards in ruin; this cut El Dorado off from trade with other planets, trapping its exports and cutting off vital imports from the heavily industrialized planet. Although the inhabitants of El Dorado suffered as a result, businesses immediately began cropping up to supply these vital components which had been imported previously, giving El Dorado the ability to be nearly self-sufficient.

El Dorado was largely untouched and unaffected by the Second Succession War and became a key technological player for the Federated Suns throughout the Third Succession War by supplying key components of 25th-century technology to factories throughout the realm.

El Dorado also has renowned universities known as the "Gilded Halls", which have allowed El Dorado to maintain its role as a front-runner in technology and manufacturing.[1]
