Elementals are armored infantry of the Clans. Elementals are genetically bred to be the largest and strongest of the three common Clan warrior phenotypes. They wear powered armor which gives them tremendous strength, protection, and mobility. The armor allows the wearer to leap high into the air. There is a strength amplifying claw that allows the wearer to rip armor plating off of 'Mechs. The suit possesses a one-use SRM 2 backpack launcher that can be discarded. There is a small laser in the arm without the claw with an anti-personal machine gun slung below the laser. The suit can withstand considerable punishment before it is breached and once breached, the armor administers pain-killers, stimulants, and other medicines to keep the wearer alive and at full battle strength. Harjel is also injected at the breach site to seal the suit and the wearer's wound.

When the Inner Sphere first encountered elementals, it was thought that these might be alien invaders due to the odd look of the suit and the superhuman abilities it bestows its wearer. Elementals were nicknamed toads by Inner Sphere warriors because of there amazing ability to jump and evade fire.

Under the Clan military organization system, a Point of elementals consists of five warriors. A Star is composed of 5 points, a total of 25 elementals.
