Mandrissa Erica Laurel was an officer with the Northwind Highlanders who fought in the service of the Capellan Confederation during the Third Succession War.[2]

In 2942 as an untried Company commander within the Northwind Highlanders, Laurel used her lighter Catapult BattleMechs together with local militia, to fight off Federated Suns forces in the Battle of Hsien. Holding off the invaders until relief arrived in the form of a Warrior House Battalion, her actions ensured Hsien would remain under Capellan control, and made her one of the most famous and successful Capellan commanders of the Third Succession War.[1][2]
As a reward for her service, later in life Laurel was granted the world of Tigress (also known as Laurel's World) by Chancellor Tormax Liao as a private fiefdom, to be held in perpetuity by her family with the title of Mandrissa of Tigress.[3]
