Federated Suns Regional Training Battalions

Overview
The Armed Forces of the Federated Suns training battalions offered the opportunity to enter the AFFS (or AFFC, during the Federated Commonwealth years) for citizens who did not have the finances or social background to gain entrance to a primary academy. The units had special agreements with privately run training facilities. Instructors selected potential candidates after observation and a series of tests. Training took from two to five years, after which the students graduated as either MechWarriors or technicians. There were four local training battalions with no connection to the major academies.[1]
