System Information

Spectral classK8V[1]
Planet(s)8[1]

The Galatia system was home to at least one habitable world, Galatia III, and as at 3145 was located in the Ashio Prefecture of the Dieron Military District of the Draconis Combine.[2][3]

System Description

The Galatia system is located near the Markab and Skat systems[2][3] and consists of eight planets orbiting a class K8V primary.[1]

System History

The Galatia system was colonized at some point during or shortly after the First Exodus from Terra.[4]

Galatia III

Template:InfoBoxPlanetStandard Galatia III is the third planet in the system, and has four moons named Athens, Olympus, Thebes and Troy.[1]

Planetary History

Amaris Civil War

The Star League Defense Force liberated Galatia III as a part of Operation CHIEFTAIN, the campaign against the Amaris Empire that began in July 2772. The liberation of Galatia III was one of the worlds assigned to the SLDF Task Force assigned to the Sun Theatre; falling within the operational region of the Twenty-first Army Group, the attack on Galatia III was conducted by elements of the Ninth Army.[5]

XLI Corps landed on Galatia III in the first wave of attacks, and defeated the Amaris Empire Armed Forces troops on the planet in a slow and steady campaign that saw the main combat operations draw to a close in August 2772, although the Corps remained on the planet until the end of the year.[6]

Succession Wars

Galatia III changed hands several times during the Succession Wars, but its various occupiers left it largely undamaged. This was due to the planet largely lacking strategic value or resources significant enough to merit hostile attention.[1]

First Succession War

Galatia III was invaded during the first half of the major invasion into the Federated Suns launched by the Draconis Combine in May 2787.[7]

The Dark Age

At the height of the Republic of the Sphere's power and influence, Galatia III was still a pleasant and scenic world. The planet was dotted with harbours, mines and small, clean cities, but the vast regions of untouched wilderness and the many tropical getaways were considered the most striking things to be found on Galatia III.[1]
