Holly Harris was the commanding officer of Team Venom in early 3044 (prior to 10 May 3044).
During a recon raid against a Draconis Combine installation in early 3044 the unit was effectively wiped out save for a lone Commando that managed to board the evacuation DropShip before it lifted off with the recon data that had been the mission objective. Colonel Holly Harris's BattleMech was left behind and was destroyed in full view of the DropShip when the pickup zone was overrun by enemy BattleMechs, her 'Mech having been too slow to reach the DropShip in time before it had to lift off.[1]
Legacy[edit]
After Harris's death, she made a will either bequeathing her funds to Grady Kiefer or give him advice about joining another merc unit.
Should Grady join a merc unit, her will reads:
| “ | If you are reading this, you know that I'm dead. Sign up with a good mercenary unit immediately. They will take care of you, making sure your mech is repaired between battles, all you have to do is fight and collect a pay-check. One day, after you got a little more combat and life experience, maybe you'll be ready to start your own mercenary company. My advice to you is this: let other people worry about patriotism and who's living under what flag. Keep your mind on the money and you can pull down a lot of C-Bills for your unit. Make sure your going to live long enough to enjoy all that money. The point of the merc life is to retire on a fat wad of C-bills, not die on some stinking rock. Obviously, I should have listened to my own advice. Good luck, Grady. I always thought you had the makings of a great Mechwarrior. Make me proud.

The computer in my office will show you what pilots are up for hire. That's how I found you, not so very long ago. Let other people worry about patriotism: you just keep your mind on the money, and don't get yourself killed on some stinking rock. No load of C-bills is going to bring you back from the grave. Or me, for that matter. Oh well... I never could say no to a mission.
