Description

The Ice Giants Stables only hire only Rasalhagians, thus keeping the stable small, but they are considered the most passionate fighters on the planet. Though there are rumors saying the stables is a terrorist front, but Garth Anderson has strongly denied this. He has though issued a warning to any Clan warrior who fights in the arenas: "Expect a bloodbath any time you fight the Ice Giants".[1] An old factory complex on the edge of the city's Silesia sector, near the river is used as their base. One warehouse works as the 'Mech hangar and repair bay, while what was the main factory now acts as a training area. The living quarters are basic as they use the old worker's quarters. The place is heavily guarded with plenty of armed KungsArmé veterans patrolling the place. Garth Anderson lives at the complex, leaving only to arrange matches, give interviews, or attend parties.[2]

History

The Ice Giants are Rasalhagians who refused to acknowledge the Ghost Bear Dominion. They first appeared in Solaris the 3084 and by 3085 they were already fighting in Class Six matches.[1]

Stable Master and Owners

Garth Anderson was a successful Mechwarrior until his retiring in 3083. He is Rasalhagian by birth and beliefs and was inmmediately named Stable Master of the newly formed Ice Giants upon his retirement. While he doesn't hate Clanners like most of the stables does, he has done nothing to stop that hatred. He is know to sometimes climb back to a 'Mech to fight mock duels with his employees. Well spoken and handsome, he is a frequent guest at parties which he uses to quietly work against the Dominion. He is still considered a Veteran MechWarrior.[3]

Notable Personnel

Instructors

  • Neil Kesler handles light and medium class 'Mech training. He is a veteran of the KungsArmé and hates the Clans to his heart. The Dominion has pressed charges on being a terrorits, which have been forcefully denied by him. No proof of those clains though has been produced by the Dominion, so he can still pass his knowledge and anger to his students.[4] He drives his MechWarriors hard, demanding perfection in everything they do. His burn scars, covering his arms and some of his face, showing he has already seen Hell, help him making his trainees never resent his manners. He can be rated as a Veteran MechWarrior.[5]
  • Anna Heig handles heavy and assault class 'Mech training. He is a veteran of the KungsArmé and hates the Clans to her heart. The Dominion has pressed charges on being a terrorits, which have been forcefully denied by her. No proof of those clains though has been produced by the Dominion, so she can still pass his knowledge and anger to her students.[4] She lost most of her family in the revolt, which has left deep but not visible scars on her. She was smuggled out of the Dominion and immediately offered the job at Ice Giant Stables. She is as though as Kesler in training, but she is now suffering depression, rarely eats and sleeps little. She is though refusing all attempts to help her from Anderson, who has been lately worried about her. She can be rated as a Veteran MechWarrior.[6]

Technicians

  • Harry Beck is the Chief Tech that leads a small group on eight technicians and twice as many astechs, meaning that a third of the Stable's 'Mechs are sidelined at any one time. They work long hours to make the 'Mechs ready to fight, but till now not a single member of the group has ever quit.[7] He is a life-long resident of Solaris, but his parents were from Rasalhague. He is a gifted technician and has sources everywhere on Solaris for parts and supplies. He is a known gambler and contributes ten percent of his winnings to a charity every month. Anderson keeps a close eye to ensure the gambling does not get out of hand.[8]

MechWarriors

In 3051 19 MechWarriors were fighting for Ice Giants Stables.[1]

Known MechWarriors

Other

  • Ulf Shibayaku's job is unknown. Listed as "media consultant", he is a large man with cold gray eyes which doesn't fit the job description. He is always seen with Anderson when he leaves the facility. He speaks rarely with anybody, except with Annika Heig. He as an air on danger around him, exacerbated by his empty handed and throwing knives training. He acts more as a bodyguard to any other thing.[10]

Tactics and Style

Ice Giants tactics can be descried as "close and hose". They favor arenas with a lot of cover like The Factory or The Jungle. They are known to go all out never acknowledging defeat unless the 'Mech is crippled or the MechWarrior is seriously injured. Their hatred of Clanners is well known, especially for the Ghost Bears, though until now it has not been tested as no match between them and any Clan pilot has been scheduled. With the troubles arising now in Solaris, no one wants to be the one to start another round of blood feuds.[11]

Notes

As of 3086, the Stable has C rating. The standard contract is for 750 C-Bills and a 25% of the earnings.[1]
