Jacob McDaniels was a mercenary that for some time also fought in Solaris VII as a MechWarrior during the Clan Invasion.[1]

History[edit]

Jacob McDaniels was a mercenary whose first unit was shattered by Clan Jade Falcon. Surviving his unit's demise and seeking a new start, McDaniels was able to make his way to Solaris with his battered Valkyrie, with Cenotaph Stables and its owner Kai Allard-Liao offering just what he needed - a short term contract that would yield some quick money. Staying just long enough to raise a stake, McDaniels then headed to Outreach with a few other MechWarriors who piloted light BattleMechs to form a new mercenary unit. After pooling their money, a complex simulator battle was fought and determined that McDaniels would become the commander. It is also where his Valkyrie earned its nickname "Juggernaut". Thus, the mercenary unit Jacob's Juggernauts was born.[1]

After some bad contracts between 3059 to 3066 McDaniels jumped at the opportunities a Word of Blake contract offered him and the unit, purchasing some enhanced 'Mechs and improving overall the unit.[2]

He self appointed himself as Lieutenant-Colonel after starting to work for the WoB. After their participation on the assault of [[Muphrid], his unit was branded as Wantedby the MRBC.

Lieutenant-Colonel McDaniels challenged the verdict, saying it was arbitrary and unfair on the MRBC's part. But while demanding reconsideration and a fair proceeding by "neutral non-Dragoons parties", inside sources later revealed that the Colonel was probably not as genuinely concerned about the MRBC ruling as he seemed. In fact, McDaniels objections bought him time to calm internal disputes within his own command, disputes fired by longtime armor commander Lieutenant Santos Coreesto, who saw his worries about a Faustian deal with the Word of Blake coming to life all around him. But all that is known is that in August of 3069, Ruther Spikes was appointed the new commander of Juggernaut Armor. That Lieutenant Santos Careesto and many of his supporters subsequently appeared on MIA lists speaks volumes to the media rumors.

After making the unit a full mixed Battalion McDaniels worked a lot to integrate the new elements to the unit.[3]

McDaniels was killed when he took his unit and assaulted a Blakist reeducation camp on Basalt. Though he liberated the camp and freed Josh McDaniels, a missile strike to his Valkyrie's cockpit resulted in his death.[4]

Tactics[edit]

He was noted as a able small-unit commander and was known to treat equally Battletechs and armor.[1]

BattleMech[edit]

He piloted a Valkyrie.
