Tai-i Jing Smith was a MechWarrior, who served with the Dragon's Fury's The Brotherhood, during the Dark Age Era.[1]

Personal Appearance[edit]

Smith had short cropped dark red hair, hazel eyes, with a muscular frame, despite his short height of 1.75m tall. As of 3133, Smith also had an ugly scar, which ran from the left side of his jaw all the way down to his shoulder.[1][4][3]

History[edit]

Early Career[edit]

A professional kickboxer with years of experience competing across the Republic of the Sphere, Smith's career was ended during a much publicized brawl in a Pacifica bar, which left him with a vicious vibroblade wound and permanent scaring. Wandering the Republic at the time of the Blackout, he was on Ozawa when he answered Duchess Katana Tormark call for recruits, due to an identification with their Asian heritage. Given training as a MechWarrior, he even surprised himself with his aptitude for BattleMechs.[1]

Battle Lance[edit]

As of 3133, Smith was a member of a Battle Lance within The Brotherhood, under the command of Jamaal Cox. His other Lancemates were Tomoko Nagasawa and Nicolasa Klaus.[5]

Shinonoi[edit]

On 15 August 3135, Smith accompanied Viki Drexel to Shinonoi, as part of a Fury offensive against the forces of Warlord Mitsura Sakamoto.[4]

Athenry[edit]

In September 3136 Smith was in the Athenry system, on the DropShip Nearstar with the Clan Nova Cat Mystic Kisho, as part of a taskforce sent to reclaim the former Dieron Military District world from the Bannson's Raiders of behalf of Katana Tormark. Smith and Kisho argued on how best to approach the invasion, and neither trusted the other.[3]

On 3 October 3136, Smith was on Kaona Island in Athenry's Wandessa Chain as the fighting for the planet continued, where he again clashed with Kisho.[6] He was not however able to resolve this disagreement, as the Fury's command center suffered a surprise attack by elements of Bannson's Raiders which claimed 25 casualties, including the death of Smith.[2]

BattleMech[edit]

Smith was known to have piloted a Thunderbolt BattleMech, serial number FW7674-13L, nicknamed "Iron Claw". This 'Mech originally belonged to the Knights of the Inner Sphere, and was gifted to Stone's Coalition following their destruction, before becoming part of the Republic Armed Forces.[1][4]
