Joel Nguyen was a MechWarrior, who served within the Northwind Highlanders' First Kearny Regiment, during the Dark Age Era.[1]
Personal Appearance[edit]
Nguyen had black hair and black eyes.[1]
History[edit]
Nguyen's family lived on Saiph, before being transferred under the Republic of the Sphere's Resettlement Act of 3082, resulting in Joel being born on Northwind. Becoming obsessed with the heritage of the world despite his own tenuous connection, Nguyen spent his youth studying its history and the exploits of the Highlanders. Joining the local militia when he was old enough, Nguyen impressed his superiors with his historical research inspired grasp of tactics and strategy, to the extent they sponsored his acceptance into the Northwind Military Academy's MechWarrior training program.
His fanatical loyalty to the Highlanders and the Republic let Nguyen rise through the ranks, such that he commanded a Force Assault Lance within the First Kearny as of 3133, which included Domonic Voeller, Leala Banach and Melicien Tetro.[2] He valued this advancement only in terms of its service to the Highlanders however, and therefore refused on two occasions offers from the Knights of the Republic of the Sphere to be made a Knight-Errant.
In battle, Nguyen used aggressive and complex tactics, which often confused his soon to be defeated enemies. He however always offered mercy prior to taking any lethal actions.[1]
BattleMech[edit]
Nguyen was known to have piloted a Zeus BattleMech, serial number LC932-65P, nicknamed "Archangel". Built in the Lyran Commonwealth, this 'Mech served in the First Skye Jaegers during the FedCom Civil War and the Word of Blake Jihad, before being ceded to the Republic as part of the garrison on Skye. Held in the Republic's reserves for a time, it was eventually assigned to the First Kearny, as part of efforts to strengthen the unit.[1]
