Planetary History

Fourth Succession War

Kandis was one of the worlds attacked in the opening wave of Operation GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG, the major Lyran Commonwealth offensive of the Fourth Succession War. Defending Kandis was a mercenary command in DCMS employ, the St. Cyr Heavy Assault Group, and when the Twenty-sixth Lyran Guards landed the resulting campaign involved a number of heavy 'Mech charges. The St. Cyr HAG withdrew from Kandis after their Second Battalion was caught on Icic and mauled by the Twenty-sixth.[20]

A shipping company serving as the only source of supplies to outlying Combine worlds was being run out of business by incessant raider attacks—raiders who were secretly backed by ComStar to force the inhabitants to leave to allow their Lostech excavation efforts to go unnoticed. Sebastian Spears of Interstellar Expeditions tasked Nik's Cavaliers with protecting the company's main supply depot on Kandis to prevent the company from folding.[46]

Ronin War

The Insect Brigade, "a small hard-luck mercenary company" was hired in March 3034, at the onset of the Ronin War, by Uller Gledsson, the appointed Free Rasalhague Republic Valdherre of Kandis. Faced with staunchly pro–Lyran Commonwealth governor Brenda Richert surrounding the government complex with the Dragonslayers mercenary unit, a fifteen-hour standoff between the mercenary units ensued. Unfortunately, an Insect Brigade MechWarrior suffered a seizure and accidentally fired a machine gun salvo (reportedly from a Wasp, possibly a WSP-1K variant) into a crowd of Lyran protesters. This triggered a firefight that devolved into general chaos on the world. Governor Richert was accidentally killed by a Dragonslayers 'Mech.[47]

Clan Invasion

Kandis was invaded by Clan Wolf in September 3050 during the Fourth Wave of Operation REVIVAL. SaKhan Garth Radick led the Silver Keshik and Trinaries Command, Assault and Binary Elemental of the 352nd Assault Cluster against the surviving battalion of the Third Freemen along with the First and Second Kandis 'Mechanized Brigades. Having escaped from the disastrous loss of Rasalhague, the Freemen and militia units under the charismatic command of Generalmajor Rhodes decided to avoid pitched battle and scattered across the main continent of Cess. For several days they successfully conducted hit-and-run attacks against the invaders until saKhan Garth Radick destroyed the defender's communication and command facilities. This was followed by a series of lightning raids which succeeded in capturing Rhodes at his headquarters, causing the resistance to collapse soon afterwards.[45]

It was during the fighting that Marijoan Shaw, a Clan Wolf Elemental, achieved her fourth solo kill when she took down an enemy Warhammer. This was a Clan Wolf record at the time.[48]
