Karina Vista (b. ???? - d. ????) was a Precentor who commanded a Army in the Com Guard and a division in the Word of Blake Militia.

History

A veteran of the Battle of Tukayyid, the well-liked Karina Vista was promoted to command of the Com Guards' Seventh Army in the wake of that titanic conflict, holding the rank of Precentor IX as of 3055.[1] Unfortunately while she chose to remain with ComStar following Tukayyid, the selection of Victor Steiner-Davion to replace Anastasius Focht as Precentor Martial in 3061 shattered her loyalty to the secular Order. Seeing that any hope of reversing the secularization as now impossible, Vista chose to defect to the Word of Blake, with a quarter of the troops from the Seventh Army's divisions - the Ninth, 244th, 222nd and 214th - choosing to accompany her into exile. [2]

Becoming one of the notable Expatriates, Karina Vista provided Word of Blake ROM valuable information regarding Blake's Wrath safe houses and hidden bases still operating on Terra after Operation ODYSSEUS which aided in their capture and destruction. In return for this information, Vista was rewarded with command of both the Dreams of Revenge Level III and the newly formed Blakist 10th Division - the so-called Shooting Stars - as a whole. [3] [4]

Though Vista and rest of the Expatriates who joined her in the Tenth had never shown any treacherous behavior since joining the Word, with ROM at the time considering Vista specifically to be safe, Precentor Martial Cameron St. Jamais openly admitted he had assigned several ROM operatives including an unnamed agent in the Tenth Division's command staff to monitor the unit for ComStar infiltrators and spies. Intended to also goad the possibly disloyal troops into remaining loyal out of paranoia, while relatively successful many innocent members of the Tenth were caught up as well and Vista faced a constantly struggle to expand her division to full strength. Likewise attempts by Vista engage in combined training exercises were repeatedly denied by Precentor Martial St. Jamais, putting a lie to his publicly stated belief of the Tenth Division's fanatical loyalty rating. [3] [4]

St. Jamais' concerns were ultimately valid, with Karina Vista among the Expatriates unmasked by Blakist Precentor ROM Alexander Kernoff as ComStar plants in 3065 and taken into ROM custody, Robin St. Nicholas replacing her as commander of the Tenth Division.[5]
