The Union-class DropShip Kiwanda was the private DropShip of Duke Aaron Sandoval, Governor of the Republic's Prefecture VI. On 9 October 3134, the ship carried Duke Sandoval off New Canton following a falling-out with the local government. Due to sabotage, it crashed into the sea shortly after taking off from the Barosa Island Spaceport, causing a wave that swamped miles of shoreline, causing considerable damage to real estate such as blue-collar vacation homes, fishermen's shacks, and low-rent hotels.
