LXI Corps (or the Sixty-first Corps) was one of the seventy-two Corps that made up the Star League Defense Force. Prior to the collapse of the Star League LXI Corps consisted of five divisions, two independent regiments and an independent aero wing. [1]

History

In 2764 LXI Corps was part of the 12th Army, assigned to District 2 of the Lyran Commonwealth Military Region. The corps was the youngest unit in the SLDF's Twelfth Army. It shared a headquarters with the Twelfth Army and was stationed along the Lyran Commonwealth/Rim Worlds Republic border. The corps featured a diverse lineup of component units, making it a good choice for troubleshooting operations. As a result it saw the most action of any of the Twelfth's corps in the decades preceding the Amaris Civil War.[2]

The unit had some inter-unit rivalry and some drama between the subcommands, but these largely hadn't affected the Sixty-first's performance.[2]

When the simmering violence and rebellion building in the Periphery erupted with the New Vandenberg Uprising and subsequent Periphery-wide uprising in 2765 LXI Corps was deployed into into the Periphery Military Region along with the rest of the 12th Army.[1]

LXI Corps took light losses in the Periphery Uprising compared to the other Corps within the 12th Army, losing only the 299th Heavy Assault Regiment; the Hegemony Campaign took a heavier toll on LXI Corps, with two full divisions destroyed before the end of the campaign.[1]

Of the units that were still intact in 2784, both divisions and the independent aero wing elected to follow General Aleksandr Kerensky on the Exodus; the only unit to remain in the Inner Sphere was the 25th Striker Regiment, which had managed to escape disbandment despite taking heavy losses during the campaign. The 25th joined the Lyran Commonwealth.[1]
