Character History

Early Life & Political Career

Son of New Avalon Ambassador Jerome Davion and Jennifer DuVall (Daughter of then Prime Minister Nathan DuVall), Lucien took on the family tradition of family politics.[3]

Lucien's younger (schemer) brother Louis Davion proposed that he should marry a woman from the politically connected Fabler family. The marriage by design of Louis to assist his older brother become Deputy Prime Minister. He married Marie Fabler and the couple gave birth to their son, Reynard.[3]

He was then appointed to Deputy Prime Minister by his childless uncle, Prime Minister Martin DuVall, in 2307. From him his uncle he got his education in Ministry of the New Avalon. After the accidental death of his uncle in 2309[4], Lucien was elected within a week to the office of Prime Minister of New Avalon. His ascendance to office, marked the end of the DuVall family's dominance in role of leading planet, marking beginning the Davion's dynasty. He also began the rapid industrialization of the planet.

With a week of him gaining the office, he consolidated his position. His years in politics, had established his reputation of being honorable and having strong principles. This lead the earned him respect among his allies and foes. Because of that, even his strongest critics and people whom hated him did not suggest he had something to do with his uncle's unfortunate death.[3] He put forth an agenda to cement trade agreement treaties with local worlds of region which New Avalon resided in which was called at the Crucis Reach.[3]

However, in Terran Alliance's election schedule 2314 turned to violence which echoed through space as the Alliance Civil War. It came to an end in 2316 when Alliance Global Militia’s Fleet Admiral James McKenna seized control of nation flung into chaos. McKenna was elected as Director-General, he then declared the formation of the Terran Hegemony. McKenna began a military campaign to reign worlds that were once part of now defunct Terran Alliance. This prompted Lucien to begin a whirlwind tour of Crucis Reach. He was promoting new proposal, of trade and defense pact worlds near New Avalon. Lucien used the threat of Terran aggression and the possibility of falling under their dictatorship as way protect themselves from the threat.[4] He traveled to numerous worlds, including the seven world Muskegon Empire to join his Crucis Pact summit.[3]

In 2317, 23 world leaders journeyed to New Avalon where they heard Davion propose a new nation, with all of them as partners. This Crucis Pact would provide protection threats abroad, as well increase trade between worlds. Twenty of the worlds' leaders agreed to join that same day.[4]

He was then elected president of the newborn nation.

As the President of the Federated Suns & Chesterton Conflict

Within one year of the formation of the Suns, President Lucien was received word from his associated from Muskegon Empire. The Commander of Muskegon, Jehan Achmeed, sent his word he would have his nation join the Suns.

However, not all went as planned. Jehan Achmeed's family iron-fisted rule of the Empire had not sat well with many. With Achmeed signing join the Suns, the worlds of Beten Kaitos and Emerson joined their Empire's trading partner, Chesterton Trade Federation.[3][4]

President Lucien moved peace keeping troops to rebellious worlds. However, Chesterton government was determined to keep them. With aid from their allies in the Tikonov Grand Union, Chesterton troops landed on both worlds easily pushed untested troops from them. This triggered interstellar war between two nations, the FedSun's first as a nation.

Lucien's military leadership skills during the conflict became apparent, as was the readiness of the Sun's troops. Three year campaign to take control of the two worlds raged with them changing hands several times. In the end the war, gave the FedSuns its first defeat.[3][4] The conflict put the Federated Suns in light of having weak military, despite its economic might.

In 2324, the Marlette Association, a small coalition of worlds located the Crucis Reach joined the FedSuns. The Associates felt the pressures of two powerful nations, Terran Hegemony and Tikonov Grand Union. The small coalition's fusion with Suns, help to embolden Lucien's nation. However, the Associates' problems with the Union became the FedSun's. Battle for Almach, Mesartim, and Mira ended in Union's victory. Again Lucien's leadership ability cemented Sun's bad reputation as weak fighters.

Capellan Zone Border Wars

After two previous conflicts, the continuing expansion of the Sun's border region continued. However, the Sun's Rimward March became a hot bed of conflict with its neighbors from the Capellan Zone. The Zone, a hodge-podge of smaller nations, began the Capellan Zone Border Wars in a bid to take the rich resource worlds that lay between them.[4]

Lucien used his ambassadors and diplomats to convince the Terran Hegemony to assist in dealing with the Zone's military ventures. The conflicts left impression on Lucien, feeling every loss of military experience burden him through rest of his presidency.

End of the Presidency and his Legacy

The burdens of his office, laid heavily on his shoulders. Not able taking any longer, in 2332, he stepped down from the post of President and handed the reins of office over to his brother Charles. Within three months, grew ill from guilt of lost decision he made what could have been. On his death bed, he sent a letter to his son Reynard whom was serving in FedSun's expeditions into St. Ives frontier. Warning him that family method of domination and machines they've used to controlled New Avalon, does not work for rest of the nation. Suggesting that thing must change if anything was to be achieved. A letter which in noted being prophetic.[3]
