The Lyran Intelligence Corps (LIC) is the intelligence arm of the Lyran Commonwealth.
It contains several departments:
- Loki: Their field is essentially state-sponsored terrorism. The task of Loki-agents is not only to assassinate and sabotage enemies of the state, but to strike fear into the hearts of the enemies of the Lyran Commonwealth/Alliance. The over-the-top brutality of Loki-agents is famed throughout the whole Inner Sphere.
- Molehunters: This is the counter-espionage-department. Their task is to find foreign spies. They were also used during the Skye-rebellion of 3065 to find out, if the rebels had infiltrated government entities.
- Lohengrin: This is the anti-terror-department. Their task is to officialy neutralize violent uprising. They were also deployed to the Province Skye on the eve of the outbreak of the rebellion of 3065.
The LIC also has an unofficial department, called Heimdall. Heimdall consists of LIC-agents, that still consider themselves patriotic Lyrans. However, they are not willing to tolerate the massive collateral damage that often occurs in Loki-operations. Accordingly they sabotage Loki-operations that they deem going to far.
