Description

Star League era fire support vehicle was created to carry the newly designed & Sniper Artillery Piece. Initially the vehicle was to use older Thor Armored Fighting Vehicle's chassis, but weight of the sniper forced the designers to start with new design.

Being the successor to the Thor, the designer improved on it by giving it tracks instead of its predcessor's wheeled configuration. The tracks gave the Marksman more stablity and more all-terrian ablities. The vehicle, due to the Sniper's short-range, the vehicle is likely be involved direct combat. A secondary combat computer was installed to allow the Sniper to be used in direct-fire situations.

The vehicle enter services with Star League in 2702.

History

Star League & Succession War Eras

The vehicle did suffer from early design flaw due to its faulty track locks, causing the vehicle throw its tracks at flank speeds. The designer corrected the design flaw but over thousand production units had been built until it was caught. Only some of the original production vehicles were retrofitted with fix.

The end of the Succession Wars there were some of these vehicles that survived. However, many believe these vehicles to be worthless, due to not knowing about improvements to correct the vehicle flaw. This caused many of the Marksman to be stripped for spare parts.

The vehicle faded from service by th end of the Third Succession War. Only one surviving vehicle was left in service of a planetary milita in the Magistracy of Canopus.

Late 31st Century

The original manufacture, Grumman Industries merged with CRI Mechanical becoming GrummanCRI. Newly merged corporation created resigned Marksman tank. GrummanCGI setup new manfacturing plant on Melissa for service of the Lyran Alliance by late 3060s. The vehicles was being deployed to borders with Clan Jade Falcon OZ.

Armament

The Marksman features it main battery, the Sniper Artillery Piece. The vehicle carrys for 20 rounds of ammunition for the Sniper. For defensive purposes, its has turreted mounted Large Laser.

Variants

• Marksman (Light PPC) - Armed with Sniper Artillery piece, the Lyran built variant replaces the original Large Laser for Light Particle Projector Cannon. Enhancing is close in defense, the vehicle is equipt with four Heavy Machine Guns, with two mounted front and two mount in the turret. The vehicle is re-engined with a Light Fusion Engine.

Vehicles Notes

• Fist of Justice - Part of the 1st Skye Rangers' artillery company. The Fist of Justice lance been service since 3068. The lance is note worthy for taking over sixty vehicles & 'Mechs over its brief history without taking any serious injuries or damage to it.

The ultizes VTOL spotter aircraft to home in on their targets. The lance is known to close in on its enemies due to Sniper's short-range. Two the lance's commanders are former Mechwarrior.
