He true identity was only known by very few knights & paladins in the Republic. He changed identities to suit his mission(s). Dunne was publicly known as a researcher in an obscure forestry office in the Interior Secretariat.[2] Knight & Countess Consuela Dagmar was his immediate supervisor as a Ghost Knight and Victor Steiner-Davion acted as his mentor.

He is in a romantic relationship with (then) Knight Lady Janella Lakewood.

Notable Actions

In August of 3132, Mason was on an undercover mission arriving on the Republic world of Helen as drifter by the name of Sam Donelly. He became a industrial mech pilot for ARU logging company. He discovered and penetrated a terrorist group known as CGF in November of that year. In course of his actions he encountered a gentleman named Mr. Handy whom created the CGF and had Mason's cell attack local authorities and betrayed them. Mason was captured after fighting a Centurion battlemech with his terror cell's militarized ConstructionMech.

Lady Lakewood arrested Sam and brought him to Terra. There he learned about the extent of the unrest the Inner Sphere was in, with majority of the HPG communication grids down. Resulting in splinter groups being created such as Katana Tormark's Dragon's Fury & power grabbing by CEO Jacob Bannson.

He was notified that Mr. Handy also known as Gypsy, was attempting to recruit him as a mechwarrior on the Republic world of Basalt. It's believed that Bannson is behind Mr. Handy/Gypsy's activities.

On January 3133, he arrives on Basalt and meets with Gypsy. He was recruited into a mercenary unit that is being hired to help overthrow the government. Gypsy had gathered a large battalion size military force with a mixed group of disfranchised ex-military personnel and mercenaries. Dunne, as Sam, convinces his employer not go by conventional conflict but use LIT (Low-Intensity Terrorism) instead. Mason citing that the population meight be easier swayed verse in going along with the government change if they do not pursue a normal military conquest.

Mason discovers, after mixing up with both Gypsy's group and locals, that this conflict was engineered by nobility's son Bernard Germayne. Manson is able to get the terrorist unit split in half.

In March, Mason, with assistance of Lady Lakewood & Public Safety Officer Niemeyer, tricked Germayne to bring forces to an obscure old prison known as Obsidian Island. The Basalt Militia waited in the Fortress-like prison for the two groups to attack. Battle broke out with militia and mercenary forces.

Mason & Lady Lakewood arrived in their battlemechs to tip the balance of battle to the Militia and convinces one of the mercenary groups that it'll be in their best interest to join the Knights of the Sphere. Both factions of the mecenary unit & militia attack Germayne's forces, ultimately leading to his defeat.

Mason allows his persona of "Sam Donelly" to die and so he continues on his missions for the Republic.

Notes

Mason Dunne piloted a Mad Cat III. He has named the Clan medium mech Ghost, after Victor Steiner-Davion's old 10th Lyran Guard RCT nicknamed the Revenants. Revenants are type of ghosts. He used Ghost in a combat mission to stop an uprising on Basalt in March, 3133.

Mason Dunne's name is mentioned in reporting successful contact with Cassandra Raines in PDA: Lowe's journel for date 3-31-3135 on Wizkids fiction Website.
