Description
The Mech Mortar/4 is the second-largest of the Mech Mortar systems developed. Based on the weapon used by infantry for centuries, it fires a small shell in a high arc that falls onto the target. Though the Mech Mortar was created by the Terran Hegemony, by the time of the Succession Wars it had been relegated to history. It has been replaced in most military forces by the LRM-15, which offers almost four times the salvo size.
With the reintroduction of the Anti-Missile System, engineers revived the Mech Mortar concept. The munitions used by the mortars, though often possessing limited guidance packages, were not destroyed by AMS systems in tests.
