History[edit]

Star League Era[edit]

Only a handful of Wagon Wheel-class frigates were ever produced,[1] and only one was known to have survived the Reunification War: the TCS Merope.[2] Still active in April 2765, the Merope was one of thirty-one WarShips serving in the Taurian navy at the time[3] and was under the command of Space Master Roger Keith.[2]

Periphery Uprising[edit]

The Merope was a casualty of the Periphery Uprising; during the brief war the Star League Defense Force destroyed almost every WarShip in the Periphery, and by the time of the First Succession War the Taurian navy had been reduced to just a single active WarShip.[4]

Notes[edit]

  • The destruction of the Periphery WarShip fleets during the uprising was noted by the author of First Succession War (sourcebook) on the Catalyst forums and confirmed by a BattleTech Developer, although not in the Ask The Writers or Ask the Lead Developer forum, so this note is not definitive until confirmed elsewhere:
Yup. Only one WarShip operational in ALL of the Periphery. And it was a Concordat boat.

You're welcome.

Beat me to it.

Uprising losses. Pretty much all periphery fleets were annihilated by the SLDF.

  • Given the lack of any new WarShips apparently being constructed between the end of the Periphery Uprising in 2766 and the end of the First Succession War in 2821 it is likely, but not certain, that the Periphery nations had also lost the ability to manufacture new WarShips through the destruction or crippling of the relevant shipyards.
