Morgan Kell (2986 – 30??) is the co-founder of the Kell Hounds mercenary unit along with younger brother Patrick Kell. He also hold the title of Grand Duke of Arc-Royal.[1]

Biography

Early Life

After attaining stunning marks at the Nagelring Morgan rose to the rank of Colonel in the 10th Skye Rangers during the early 3000's.

In 3006 Morgan, Katrina Steiner, & his cousin (future husband of Katrina) Arthur Luvon were attacked by LIC & Loki on Poulsbo. Then Archon Alessandro Steiner had sent forces in to assassinate Katrina due to her opposition to his Operation Concentrated Weakness. Members of loyal opposition force, Hemidall, saved them and allowed them to flee to the Periphery. Which was made famous as they took on the personal of Red Corsair and her henchman. Acting as undisclosed pirates through Periphery, re-entering the Inner Sphere through House Marik's border. Leading to Katrina's return to Tharkad and helping her "retire" Alessandro.[2] During this time Morgan meet woman named "Tempest", whom is believe be his first love.

The Kell Hounds

The Kell Hounds were born even before Morgan and Patrick had thoughts of running their own mercenary command. Arthur Luvon, future husband of Lyran Archon Katrina Steiner and Morgan and Patrick's cousin, dubbed the two brothers the Kell Hounds after witnessing them as young boys running around and terrorizing a neighbor's flock of sheep. Arthur drew up the Kell Hounds' crest and predicted that the two would grow up to become great MechWarriors. When Arthur died, Morgan and Patrick used the money left to them to form the Kell Hounds mercenary unit which they created in 3010. Though initially mocked as rich boys playing mercenary, the two made quite the impression with their surprisingly advanced grasp of strategy and tactics, as well as a top-notch technical support staff.

Rescued the body of Prince Ian Davion. Later, in a battle on Mallory's World, he saved his unit by using the Phantom 'Mech skill in single combat against the commander of the Second Sword of Light, Yorinaga Kurita in 3016.

After that incident he reduced the Kell Hounds to a single battalion and went to a MechWarrior monastery, the St. Marinus House on the planet Zaniah. Eleven years later, following the death of Patrick Kell at the hands of Yorinaga Kurita, he re-formed the Kell Hounds into a full regiment and to defeat Kurita. He travels to Tharkad at New Years Eve of 3027 to ask Archon Katrina Steiner release unit's contract so he may pursue Yorinaga. He is asked by Melissa Steiner to give her away in place of her father.[3] As his unit reforms and trains he and Captain Daniel Allard travels to Terra for his cousin's wedding in August 3028. In course of the events of wedding, he units with Wolf's Dragoons commander Jamie Wolf and arch-enemy Yorinaga Kurita to rescue Yorinaga's son after he discovers Comstar hidden Star League tech equipt army under Hilton's Head Island.[4]

By January 3029 Morgan has his people destroy Genyosha's base on Nashira[5] and create a make shift map out of the ruins of the base to direct Genyosha world to meet.

During the Clan invasion he receives word of the "lost" his son Phelan to the what later discovered to be Wolf Clan on The Rock in 3049. Near end of the war he leads the Kell Hounds on Luthien alongside the Wolf's Dragoons again Clan Smoke Jaguar & Clan Nova Cat.

Assasination and FedCom Civil War

On June 19th, 3055 he and his wife Salmone were caught in explosion which kill his cousin Archon Melissa Steiner and his wife. The explosion also tore his right arm off, required wearable bionic replacement. He know seldom wear the device, since he dislike it. He learns later that his cousin's daughter Kathriene Steiner arranged for the assasination of her mother to make way for her to eventually become new Archon. He then began to try to gather evidence and isolate his region from his beginning of his Arc-Royal Defense Cordon.

After the Refusal War between the Wolves and Falcons he created the Arc-Royal Defense Cordon on the border area with Clan Jade Falcon. His son Phelan Kell with his people to Arc-Royal as Khan Clan Wolf-in-Exile. Notable units in the Cordon are the 4th Skye Rangers, 17th Skye Rangers, the entire Clan Wolf-in-Exile touman, The Blue Star Irregulars, the Dioscuri, and the Kell Hounds.

In 3059, Kell meet with his cousin Victor Steiner-Davion, secretly gave him support of his forces should they ever be need regain his places as Archon-Prince of entire FedCom. While on Tharkad during the Whitter Accords, he had private meeting with Katherine/Katrina Steiner-Davion with his son Phelen Kell. The meeting started with friendly at first, she tried to court him to her side. He soundly refused stating boldly that he knows she order the murdered her mother and lead to his wife death. In fit rage, she threaten his life, but only be threaten herself being strangled by Morgan's son. Morgan calmly called off Phelp to spare her life, while Phelen warned his Wolves would come for revenge should anything happen to him or his father. This later was part ploy to deceive Katherine to slip up reveal evidence she was hiding.

After the outbreak of the FedCom Civil War, Morgan help plan some of the campaigns the war. Including taking over for Victor when his lover Omi Kurita was murdered.

He was also key person whom retrieved Peter Steiner-Davion from Zaniah III's St. Marinus House to lead the assault on Tharkad.

Marriage and Children

He was married to Salome Ward who bore him a son, Phelan Kell, as well as a daughter, Caitlin Kell. He also had an illegitimate daughter, Megan Kell, who ended up marrying Dan Allard. He help raised his nephew Christian Kell, whom meet him in 3042 at age 16.[6]

Character Notes

He is noted as being elite pilot of Archer BattleMech.[7] He continued to pilot the red/black paint machine until his "final" retirement active military service in 3055.

As of 3067, he was the only MechWarrior alive with the frightening Phantom 'Mech ability. It not known if he is still able to use this since being injured in bombing in 3055.

He carried a note written by Archon Katrina Steiner gave him access to anything needs. Written as

Which was second act as Archon, when she grained power.[8]

During his time in Periphery, it is unclear if "Tempest" is infact the mother of Morgan's illigemate daughter, Megan Kell.
