Planetary Info

Mosiro is a standard Terran Style world, notable for the predominance of Islam as the major religion amongst the population.[1]

The planetary capital is Al-Ilb, which is carved on the side of a kilometer cliff above a forest. The city devoted to the arts, with museums, concert halls, a major university and the largest mosque rimward of Terra. The city lacks good infrastructure for the traffic associated with a commercial center, however.[1]

The city of Al-Hassam is the commercial hub on Mosiro; the city design was modeled after those of Terra's north African and southern Spanish regions. Within the city's piazza (City Center) most of its modern infrastructure is kept out of sight, with vehicle traffic consigned underground tunnels. The piazza is home to vast walkways and trees, with easy access to the mosque, museums, and the planetary capital building. The modern buildings are kept away from the piazza as well.[39]

THe Ministry of Information is known to house one of the most extensive libraries of physical books to be found in the Free Worlds League. The building also acts as the planetary headquarters for SAFE.[citation needed]

Planetary History

Early History

Mosiro was settled by Capellan Confederation and was the target of many raids by the Free Worlds League. Notably, it was briefly seized by Peter Marik in 2401 during the early stages of the Age of War.[5]

Star League Era

Mosiro was one of some fifty-one heavily contested worlds to have been placed under Terran Hegemony authority as a jointly-administered world during the Age of War or Star League era. During the First Succession War Mosiro once more became a flashpoint between the Free Worlds League and Capellan Confederation.[40]

The Jihad

In the thirty-first century Mosiro was briefly the capital world its own realm, the Mosiro Archipelago, a minior province that seceded from Duchy of Andurien. By the thirty-second century Mosiro was once again a part of the Duchy and had become a regional commercial trade post for the Duchy.[citation needed]

The world was taken from Andurien during the conflict between the Duchy and the Oriente Protectorate in July of 3137. The defending Second Andurien Guard and the planet's own Mosiro Planetary Militia fought in the commercial part of the city of Al-Hassam and were destroyed by Oriente allied forces.[citation needed]
