Colonel Gomez was commander of the Fourth Principes Guards and was stationed on Foot Fall when the unit was ambushed by the Fourth McCarron's Armored Cavalry in October 3111. Heralding the first wave of the Capellan Confederation's Capellan Crusades, the Fourth MAC caught the Fourth Principes during a period of regiment-wide refits, quickly destroying the Republic unit's barracks and support facilities. Forced into retreat, the Fourth Principes made their stand in the Valley of Kings on 13 October, although having already lost half of their strength they did not stand for long before being pushed entirely off-planet.[2]
