Star League

Reunification War

New Abilene was a member of the Magistracy of Canopus when a Star League Defense Force task force under the command of Captain-General Marion Marik was assigned to conquer the Magistracy of Canopus in 2577. New Abilene was targetted by the SLDF in 2584 following capture of Canopus IV, and was conquered quickly by VII Corps' 402nd Independent Regiment in early 2584 with the support from the 3rd Brigade of the Fusiliers of Oriente, with only a token resistance offered by forces on the planet before surrender.[4][31]

New Abilene would be occupied by the SLDF for the remainder of the war; once the Reunification War ended, a number of Magistracy worlds were annexed by the Free Worlds League, but New Abilene remained a part of the Magistracy.[4][5]

Fall of the Star League

During the final years of the Star League, New Abilene was the host to a Star League Defense Force garrison.[32]

Succession Wars

By the 31st century, New Abilene is a border world that has been wholly given over to agriculture. Most of this industry relies on raising sheep, cattle, and other food animals instead of growing crops, however. First settled in 2581 the Taurian Concordat has raided the world several times, trying to bring it under their control. Each time the world has been successfully defended by the Magistracy. The first attack took place in 2892 and was repulsed by Cassandra's Volunteers.[33]

Most of the land has been divided up among a few wealthy landowners. These barons often come into conflicts over water and grazing rights. In 3025 the practice of hiring individual MechWarriors to enforce a particular baron's wishes came to a head and Magestrix Kyalla Centrella sent several MechWarriors of her own to act as marshals.[1]
