The Northwind Hussars were a mercenary unit formed specifically by the Northwind Highlanders to fight the Clans.

History

Formed after the Northwind Highlanders' operations on Wayside V (Wildcat) in 3058[1] as a dedicated unit to combat the Clans. The first commander was Loren Jaffray.[2]

In April the 3059 the Hussars were stationed in Fort Defiance on Defiance in the Crucis March. Here they formed a crucial part of the training instructor to Task Force Serpent.[3] Later in 3059 the Hussars, along with Stirling’s Fusiliers, took part in Operation Bulldog. They fought on Virentofta and Rockland.[2][4]

After Bulldog the Hussars were stationed on Tukayyid under contract to the Star League, While there the Hussars raised the Third Battalion that it sent on several raids against Clan Wolf.[2]

In 3067 they were contracted to the SLDF and garrisoned Ueda.[5]

Officers

Prior to his taking command of the Northwind Hussars at the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel Loren Jaffray served as a Major in Stirling's Fusiliers and before that in the Death Commandos of the CCAF.[6]

Tactics

The regiment is a dedicated anti-Clan force, although it is still capable of standard Inner Sphere tactical doctrines.

Star Lord-class Scotland Forever,
Invader-class Lady of the Lake, Tradition and Honor, and Flight of Icarus
Merchant-class Necromo and Bellatrix
Scout-class Deep Hunter, Star of David, Prince's Own, and Juniper.

Composition

Regimental Command Trinary(Company/Elite/Reliable)

The command element is designed after Clan standard.
The Air Wing is composed field upgrades and Combine OmniFighters.[2]

Northwind Hussars(Reinforced Regiment/Elite/Reliable)

  • First Battalion Jaffray’s Own
  • Second Battalion Jaguar’s Bane
  • Third (Light) Battalion Wolf Slayers
The unit consists only of 'Mechs, 10 percent of these have Clan equipment and the rest have upgraded Star League technology.
