Operation COOKIE JAR was the first real move by the Free Worlds League in what would become known as the ComStar War, fought between ComStar and the Free Worlds League. During the Second Succession War Captain-General Charles Marik had become suspicious of his supposed allies in ComStar, and had become convinced that ComStar was feeding information to the League's enemies as well as to him. To test his theory, in March 2837[1] Charles had the Marshal of Oriente send a falsified message to Atreus revealing the apparent discovery of a major Star League storehouse on Cursa, a world that had been abandoned by the Free Worlds League. The swift arrival of three elite regiments of Capellan Confederation Armed Forces troops on Cursa confirmed Charles' suspicions, and he retaliated by ordering the Free Worlds League Military fleet at Oriente to destroy the Oriente A HPG station, killing the adepts there - adepts that included the original source of his information from ComStar, his sister Jeannette Marik.[2]
