The Osaka Fields Proving Grounds is the largest example of the "proving grounds" concept in the Draconis Combine. Proving grounds can be found on every district and prefecture capital worlds so that individuals from outside the noble and privileged classes have an opportunity to join the DCMS.
The Osaka Fields Proving Grounds, located on the planet Benjamin, consists of an abandoned Succession Wars-era military base bordered by an untamed wilderness. There are also three live-fire ranges for MechWarriors to train in their BattleMechs. In 3061, the DCMS added a large urban area to train infantry in various tactics.
Grudge matches between various units training at the facility are common. This has led to Osaka Fields becoming an attraction for civilians in the Benjamin Military District as various planetary militias journey to Benjamin for training exercises. Gambling amongst civilians, particularly nobles, is strictly prohibited by the authorities, but wagers are always being made.[1]
