Description
Introduced in 2620 by Leopard Armor of Terra for the SLDF. The Artillery Tank was created as companion tank to Chaparral Missile Tank. The Padillia was usually worked with TAG equipt BattleMechs. The tank is noted for its light armor, making commanders having the vehicle protected by screened by ECM Suite vehicles & 'Mechs.
During General Aleksandr Kerensky's Operation Liberation at end of the Amaris Coup, most of the Padilla in service were destroyed in Terra's liberaton. Only twenty of tanks were found in active with Capellan Confederation by the First Succession War.
By the 31st Century, only few dozen of the vehicle were found in service of Com Guard and Free Rasalhague Republic. Some which were sold to Second Star League's SLDF as symbols.
More recently, the Word of Blake has resumed production of the Padilla, once again produced by Leopard Armor on Terra. Leopard Armor is also building the Red Shift battlemech, designed to serve as a fast artillery spotter.[1]
Armament
The vehicle's primary weaponry is its forward mounted Katyusha Arrov IV Missile Launcher. The vehicle is given 6 tons of ammunition. The vehicle self-defense weaponry includes pair of Martell Medium Pulse Lasers. To protect the vehicle from missile fire, its been armed with forward mounted Burrow Anti-Missile System with two tons of ammunition. The vehicle also equipt with TAG laser designator.
