Planetary Overview

Pompey had three continents, Campania (site of Naples), Cumae, and Stabiae.[1]

Planetary History

Following the decision by Caesar Sean O'Reilly to align the Marian Hegemony with the Word of Blake in late-3061, it was announced that the worlds of Pompey and Lothario would each gain HPG stations, with construction starting in the last week of December.[20]

Pompey was important to the Hegemony because it housed the main Hadrian Mechanized Industries plant. The factory was located in Naples, the capital city. The city was largely polluted and known for being raucous. It also housed thousands of HMI employees, and for decades a low-level street war had been going on between HMI and local criminal elements that sought to take advantage of the workforce by unionizing them. After their formation, the unions tried to extort money from the management of HMI. This conflict sometimes resulted in the murder of a worker.[1]

Dark Age

In 3141 a determined guerrilla force was causing problems for local Marian forces; as a consequence, a flight of Lamprey Transport Helicopters spent two weeks working in conjunction with conventional infantry to perform a painstaking and tedious sweep of the dense local jungle, hunting for the guerrillas. When cornered, the guerillas surprised the Marian forces by fielding a pair of modified IndustrialMechs, including a modified MiningMech. A lengthy battle resulted before the flight of Lampreys disabled the MiningMech and forced the other armed IndustrialMech to flee.[21]
