Planetary Info

A world with seven continents of jungles and deserts, Poznan's initial population was founded by Spanian, Poles, and Portuguese leaving Terra. On Poznan they settled most of the continents, exploiting the iron and titanium ores, as well as oil and various plant life. Before joining the Capellan Confederation, there was a civil war on Poznan with the Poles and Spaniards fighting among themselves for control of Palma, a continent on Poznan. Though the Spaniards eventually won, when Poznan joined the Capellan Confederation things changed rapidly.[1]

An influx of immigrants, mostly of Chinese descent, quickly took control of the planet through their large numbers. The other groups were a minority, and the Capellans treated them that way. When the Federated Suns liberated the world in the Fourth Succession War, the Capellan-sponsored institutional discrimination was removed. After Operation Guerrero brought the world back into the control of the Confederation, most of the non-ethnic Chinese were wary of how the Chancellor would structure the new government. Fortunately, Sun-Tzu Liao declared that nothing would change, and the existing leadership would remain in place. This single act reconciled the Poznans to their new government.[1]

Poznan was incorporated into the Word of Blake Protectorate during the Jihad, but the Capellan Confederation launched a campaign to recapture the world in 3077. By the 18th of August Poznan was a Capellan possession once more, but the population had suffered as a result of the nuclear and chemical weapons both the CCAF and Word of Blake forces had used against each other during the struggle for the world.[34]

During the era of the Tikonov Grand Union or the Age of War Poznan was affiliated with the Sixth Tikonov Lancers, a regiment within the Tikonov Lancers brigade who earned the nickname of the "Jolly Poznan Lancers".[35]
