Planetary History

Qurayyat was discovered and colonized in the early to mid-twenty-second century. Like many systems in the anti-spinward region of the Inner Sphere, Qurayyat was discovered by explorers drawn from those regions of Terra known as Africa, the Middle East and Far East, who were driven by a common motivation; to escape the heavily centralized government on Terra, and avoid being caught once more between factions of the Terran Alliance. A garden world like New India, those who were drawn to colonize Qurayyat were the descendants of those who had lived within the Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere and others who had been trapped between the fragmented splinter states of the former Soviet Union and the assorted NATO countries; Qurayyat was already established as a colony world before a second wave of colonization would sweep through the region in the wake of the Outer Reaches Rebellion.[36]

Reunification War

By the end of the Age of War Qurayyat was a part of the Finmark Province of the Rim Worlds Republic.[1] and the garrison world for the Third Amaris Legionnaires.[37] When the civil war erupted between followers of First Consul Gregory Amaris and supporters of the Rift Republican Army the Third Legionnaires sided with the Rim Provisional Government and would remain on Stirling for the better part of the next decade.[38]

The Star League eventually decided to intervene in the civil war in support of Gregory Amaris, and assembled Task Force MAILED FIST to help secure Amaris' control over the Rim Worlds Republic. A multinational force headed by the Star League Defense Force, Task Force MAILED FIST was responsible for executing Operation MAILED FIST, the name given to the military intervention. After a destructive raid on Alarion prompted the SLDF to alter its initial strategy for the campaign, the focus shifted to reducing Rim Worlds Army concentrations throughout the Republic and responsibility for formations such as the Third Legionnaires within the Finmark province was given to Battle Group Finmark, a grouping of SLDF and Free Worlds League Military units under the overall command of Archon Viola Steiner-Dinesen.[39]

The Archon deployed the Lyran Auxiliary Corps to secure Qurayyat and the Sixth Dragoons; based around the Fourth Royal Guards Regiment, Twenty-Fifth Skye Rangers and the Tamar Tigers, the LCAF contingent landed on Qurayyat in 2584,[40] defeating the outnumbered Sixth Dragoons and securing control of the world.[38]

Star League Era

Qurayyat was conquered by the Lyran Commonwealth during the 2773-2775 Republic-Commonwealth War.[11]
