Planetary History
 +
Colonization and Rise of the Sandoval family
 +
The planet was first settled by colonists during the First Terran Exodus, who were attracted by its rich black soil and pleasant living conditions. The majority of the land's early settlers were farmers who soon discovered the world was rich in mineral and oil deposits. However, off planet corporations seeking to exploit the mineral wealth soon arrived and came into conflict with the farmers, who had already claimed the majority of the planet's available land. The resulting political crisis fueled by conflicts with major mining concerns in the Terran Hegemony led to the collapse of the planetary government. The Robinson planetary militia commander, David Sandoval, stepped forward and took control of the failed government. Declaring himself "Lord Protector," he seized the foreign companies' assets and lands to stabilize the situation.  He forged a land-reform bill which shifted control of all land transactions to his new government. This resulted in the Sandoval family becoming incredibly rich. Though new policies eventually came into place to weaken this arrangement, the Sandoval family would eventually become the planet's ruling nobility.
 +
 +
Age of War
 +
In a deep raid to the planet made by DCMS forces, its heavy 'Mech Battalion encountered Estevez tanks. The Combine commander was a firm believer in the Ares Conventions and when he was informed of the forces facing him, he suggested that the combat be fought using simulated munitions. This concession was not enough for the defenders to stop the Combine forces which easily won their objectives, but it saved their lives as after action reports calculated that with live ammunition, not even a full Regiment of tanks could have stopped the Kuritan forces.
 +
 +
Founding of the Federated Suns and the Davion Civil War
 +
With the founding of the Federated Suns, Robinson became one of the five seats of power under House Davion. Robinson became the capital world of the Terran March, one of five Marches within the Federated Suns; the Princes of the Terran March were members of the Leighton family until Prince Charles Leighton and his family were killed in 2515 in a raid by the Hegemony Armed Forces. As a result of political maneuverings within the Council of Regents General Nikolai Rostov, one of the Federated Suns' most celebrated military leaders and serving member of the Council of Regents, was named Prince of the Terran March.
 +
 +
Nikolai Rostov would continue to serve as Prince and then later as First Marshal while Robinson and the Terran March saw invasions from first the Terran Hegemony and then the Draconis Combine between his election in 2515 and the outbreak of civil war in 2524. Nikolai Rostov led the forces of the Terran March in conjunction with the Draconis March forces led by Laura Davion on an assault into the Capellan March in an attempt to remove Cassandra Davion and David Varnay from power, sparking the civil war. When Nikolai Rostov was killed in Battle of Quittacas, his son Dmitri became Prince of the Terran March.
 +
 +
Dmitri led the Terran March forces in support of First Prince Alexander Davion initially, fighting against the Varnay forces in the Capellan March and then Laura Davion's forces in the Draconis March. With the defeat of the Varnays and Laura Davion, Alexander Davion began to restructure the political layout of the Federated Suns; Dmitri Rostov openly opposed Alexander's reforms, culminating in Dmitri leading the military forces of the Terran March against Alexander in battle and a botched attempt to kidnap Cynthia Davion that saw Alexander's wife killed. The net result was a massive military response from Alexander which ended with a battle on Robinson in November 2540 in which Alexander killed Dmitri. The Terran March was abolished soon after when Alexander reorganized the Federated Suns into just three Marches and Robinson became the capital of the new Draconis March.
 +
 +
First Succession War
 +
Robinson was invaded during the first half of the major invasion into the Federated Suns launched by the Draconis Combine in May 2787. Robinson was liberated by the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns in 2814 as part of the third and final major AFFS counteroffensive of the First Succession War against the Draconis Combine.

Second Succession War
* 2241 - Terran Alliance
+
During the Second Succession War, Robinson was one of a number of worlds assaulted by the Draconis Combine in 2840 as part of a Combine plan to freeze AFFS forces in a contested area of the border between the two realms. A large raid was sent against Robinson in order to try and draw off Davion forces, but the assault was quickly repelled and had little effect in misdirecting the Federated Suns forces.

During the Marathon Offensive of Miyogi Kurita in 2854, the Suns lost Robinson again. On 10 June, the Coordinator led four Sword of Light regiments and ten support regiments against three defending regiments on the planet. The invasion was early decided because the DCMS had attacked Kentares IV simultaneously, pinning down reserve units otherwise available as reinforcements. Employing nuclear, chemical, and biological attacks this assault became known as the "Rape of Robinson." The AFFS retreated off-world in August 2858 and swore to come back.  A counteroffensive later in the year failed to reclaim the world for the Suns, though Cassandra Davion would see action for the first time in that attack while serving as a combat medic. Another assault in 2860 likewise failed.
Colonization & Rise of the Sandoval family
The planet was first settled by colonists from the First Terran Exodus, who were attracted by its rich black soil and pleasant living conditions. The majority of the land's early settlers were farmers who soon discovered the world was rich in mineral and oil deposits. However, off planet corporations seeking to exploit the mineral wealth soon arrived and came into conflict with the farmers, who had already claimed the majority of the planet's available land. The resulting political crisis fuelled by conflicts with major mining concerns in the Terran Hegemony led to the collapse of the planetary government. The Robinson planetary militia commander, David Sandoval, stepped forward and took control of the failed government. Declaring himself "Lord Protector", he seized the foreign companies' assets and lands to stabilize the situation. He forged a land-reform bill which shifted control of all land transactions to his new government. This resulted in the Sandoval family becoming incredibly rich. Though new policies eventually came into place to weaken this arrangement, the Sandoval family would eventually become the planet's ruling nobility.

Founding of the Federated Suns & Davion Civil War
+
Third Succession War
With the founding of the Federated Suns, Robinson became one of the five seats of power under House Davion. Robinson became the capital world of the Terran March, one of five Marches within the Federated Suns; the Princes of the Terran March were members of the Leighton family until Prince Charles Leighton and his family were killed in 2515 in a raid by Hegemony Armed Forces. As a result of political maneuverings within the Council of Regents General Nikolai Rostov, one of the Federated Suns' most celebrated military leaders and serving member of the Council of Regents was named Prince of the Terran March.
+
Early in the Third Succession War, Operation PENDRAGON would reclaim Robinson for the Federated Suns. In late 2891, Marshal Joseph Davion II led the elite Second Avalon Hussar RCT in a bold invasion of Robinson. While the Third Sword of Light saw the arriving Davion DropShips well in advance, they were not prepared for Joseph's highly risky plan to drop his forces directly into the DCMS troops' midst, expecting a more conventional choice of drop zones. Though initially falling back, the elite Third Sword quickly mounted a counterattack which blunted the Second Avalon's advance, fighting toe-to-toe among the buildings of Robinson's capital city. The fighting would drag on for an entire month; though the Third excelled in small unit actions, coordination between the component parts of the Second's RCT allowed them to win in larger scale operations, with the Combine defense beginning to falter as Taragi ramped up his efforts and ensuring that the DCMS troops on-world received no supplies for an entire month. While fighting with all their skill, eventually the lack of supplies forced the imperiled Third Sword of Light to retreat off-planet to avoid destruction, conceding control of the world to the Federated Suns.

Nikolai Rostov would continue to serve as Prince and then later as First Marshal while Robinson and the Terran March saw invasions from first the Terran Hegemony and then the Draconis Combine between his election in 2515 and the outbreak of civil war in 2524. Nikolai Rostov lead the forces of the Terran March in conjunction with the Draconis March forces led by Laura Davion on an assault into the Capellan March in an attempt to remove Cassandra Davion and David Varnay from power, sparking the civil war. When Nikolai Rostov was killed in battle on Quitticas, his son Dmitri became Prince of the Terran March.

Martin Sandoval and his Robinson Rangers entourage built up a sizeable drug and gambling debt with a loan shark off-world. When the lenders tried to collect, Martin ratted them out to his uncle Aaron Sandoval, who used his political clout to have them arrested by Federated Suns authorities. What they didn't know was that the suppliers and loan sharks belonged to a much larger organization, one that wouldn't stand for a noble feeling he could walk out of his debt, and they placed a sizable bounty on Martin's head.

The net result was a massive military response from Alexander which ended with a battle on Robinson in November 2540 in which Alexander killed Dmitri. The Terran March was abolished soon after when Alexander reorganized the Federated Suns into just three Marches and Robinson became the capital of the new Draconis March.

Sandoval and his friends were stationed under heavy protection on Robinson but the Bounty Hunter intended to collect. He found an opening when Sandoval's detachment was scheduled to be rotated to a remote outpost toward the base of a large mountain range to conduct training exercises. Due to particular difficulties the Bounty Hunter couldn't get around on his own, he brought a mercenary unit in on the job, sending two of his team in 'Mechs equipped with advanced electronic countermeasures to screen the mercenary lance as they advanced, causing confusion and drawing away the Rangers' main forces while the Hunter approached from the rear. Sandoval and all defending forces were killed; the Hunter wanted to leave no survivors who could implicate his involvement.

Fourth Succession War
During the Second Succession War Robinnson was a number of worlds assaulted by the Draconis Combine in 2840 as part of a Combine plan to freeze AFFS forces in a contested area of the border between the two realms. A large raid was sent against Robinson in order to try and draw off Davion forces, but the assult was quickly repeled and haad little effect in misdirecting the Federated Suns forces.

Following the Battle of Misery Zeta Battalion escorted the Wolf's Dragoons families to Robinson for safekeeping before departing in early October in three rented Mule DropShips and a Merchant-class JumpShip to reinforce the beleaguered Dragoons in the Battle of Crossing

During the Marathon Offensive of Myogi Kurita in the 2850s the Suns lost only one world to the Draconis Combine, Robinson, but it was an symbol to the people of the Federated Suns. The Coordinator led 4 of his best 'Mech units (Sword of Light) against 3 defending Davion 'Mech regiments on the planet. The invasion was early decided because the DCMS had attacked Kentares IV simultaneously with Robinson and the Federation High Command have no reserve units available as reinforcements. The AFFS retreated off-world and swore to came back.

War of 3039
 +
On 2 April 3039, Leftenant Adrian Robertson placed a briefcase containing detailed plans for the 16 April invasion of the Draconis Combine which was then stolen in what was intended as a mundane vehicle theft. The AFFS was understandably concerned and a planetwide search for suspected ISF agents was launched. Almost twenty-four hours after the initial theft, an anonymously phone call was placed to the Robinson City Police Department that the car was located in the city center. The briefcase had been forced opened, but all contents were there and the thief included a note stating only "I may be a thief, but I am a patriot too. I return this to you, together with my assurance that I have not copied or passed on the information it contains."  Dubbed the Patriotic Thief by the press after the War, they were never identified, and their identity as Teagen Reeves was known only to her accomplice Lee.

The planet lost portions of its rich soil to heavy mining during this period, limiting its ability to feed itself. However, its exports of raw materials allowed construction of Dropships & JumpShips, making the world wealthy and able to afford food imports.  Following the fall of the Star League, House Kurita forces invaded and occupied the world for a number of decades. As a result, Robinson suffered a prolonged period of starvation and the destruction of many of its heavy industries. Only in the thirty-first century has the planet's economic wealth been restored.

The planet has several orbital stations, first among them the Sharon habitat with 11,000 souls aboard.[65]

Planetary History[edit]

Colonization and Rise of the Sandoval family[edit]

The planet was first settled by colonists during the First Terran Exodus, who were attracted by its rich black soil and pleasant living conditions. The majority of the land's early settlers were farmers who soon discovered the world was rich in mineral and oil deposits. However, off planet corporations seeking to exploit the mineral wealth soon arrived and came into conflict with the farmers, who had already claimed the majority of the planet's available land. The resulting political crisis fueled by conflicts with major mining concerns in the Terran Hegemony led to the collapse of the planetary government. The Robinson planetary militia commander, David Sandoval, stepped forward and took control of the failed government.[2] Declaring himself "Lord Protector," he seized the foreign companies' assets and lands to stabilize the situation. He forged a land-reform bill which shifted control of all land transactions to his new government. This resulted in the Sandoval family becoming incredibly rich. Though new policies eventually came into place to weaken this arrangement, the Sandoval family would eventually become the planet's ruling nobility.[1]

Age of War[edit]

In a deep raid to the planet made by DCMS forces, its heavy 'Mech Battalion encountered Estevez tanks. The Combine commander was a firm believer in the Ares Conventions and when he was informed of the forces facing him, he suggested that the combat be fought using simulated munitions. This concession was not enough for the defenders to stop the Combine forces which easily won their objectives, but it saved their lives as after action reports calculated that with live ammunition, not even a full Regiment of tanks could have stopped the Kuritan forces.[66]

Founding of the Federated Suns and the Davion Civil War[edit]

With the founding of the Federated Suns, Robinson became one of the five seats of power under House Davion. Robinson became the capital world of the Terran March, one of five Marches within the Federated Suns; the Princes of the Terran March were members of the Leighton family until Prince Charles Leighton and his family were killed in 2515[67] in a raid by the Hegemony Armed Forces.[68][69] As a result of political maneuverings within the Council of Regents General Nikolai Rostov, one of the Federated Suns' most celebrated military leaders and serving member of the Council of Regents, was named Prince of the Terran March.[67]

When Nikolai Rostov was killed in Battle of Quittacas, his son Dmitri became Prince of the Terran March.[70]

Dmitri led the Terran March forces in support of First Prince Alexander Davion initially,[71] fighting against the Varnay forces in the Capellan March and then Laura Davion's forces in the Draconis March.[72] With the defeat of the Varnays and Laura Davion, Alexander Davion began to restructure the political layout of the Federated Suns; Dmitri Rostov openly opposed Alexander's reforms, culminating in Dmitri leading the military forces of the Terran March against Alexander in battle and a botched attempt to kidnap Cynthia Davion that saw Alexander's wife killed. The net result was a massive military response from Alexander which ended with a battle on Robinson in November 2540 in which Alexander killed Dmitri.[73] The Terran March was abolished soon after when Alexander reorganized the Federated Suns into just three Marches and Robinson became the capital of the new Draconis March.[74]

First Succession War[edit]

Robinson was invaded during the first half of the major invasion into the Federated Suns launched by the Draconis Combine in May 2787.[17] Robinson was liberated by the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns in 2814 as part of the third and final major AFFS counteroffensive of the First Succession War against the Draconis Combine.[18]

Second Succession War[edit]

During the Second Succession War, Robinson was one of a number of worlds assaulted by the Draconis Combine in 2840 as part of a Combine plan to freeze AFFS forces in a contested area of the border between the two realms. A large raid was sent against Robinson in order to try and draw off Davion forces, but the assault was quickly repelled and had little effect in misdirecting the Federated Suns forces.[23]

A counteroffensive later in the year failed to reclaim the world for the Suns, though Cassandra Davion would see action for the first time in that attack while serving as a combat medic.[75] Another assault in 2860 likewise failed.[76][77][78]

Third Succession War[edit]

Early in the Third Succession War, Operation PENDRAGON would reclaim Robinson for the Federated Suns.[78] In late 2891, Marshal Joseph Davion II led the elite Second Avalon Hussar RCT in a bold invasion of Robinson. While fighting with all their skill, eventually the lack of supplies forced the imperiled Third Sword of Light to retreat off-planet to avoid destruction, conceding control of the world to the Federated Suns.[79][80]

The information after this notice comes from apocryphal sources; the canonicity of such information is uncertain.
Please view the reference page for information regarding their canonicity.

What they didn't know was that the suppliers and loan sharks belonged to a much larger organization, one that wouldn't stand for a noble feeling he could walk out of his debt, and they placed a sizable bounty on Martin's head.[81]

Sandoval and all defending forces were killed; the Hunter wanted to leave no survivors who could implicate his involvement.[81]

Fourth Succession War[edit]

Following the Battle of Misery Zeta Battalion escorted the Wolf's Dragoons families to Robinson for safekeeping before departing in early October in three rented Mule DropShips and a Merchant-class JumpShip to reinforce the beleaguered Dragoons in the Battle of Crossing[82]

War of 3039[edit]

I return this to you, together with my assurance that I have not copied or passed on the information it contains." Dubbed the Patriotic Thief by the press after the War, they were never identified, and their identity as Teagen Reeves was known only to her accomplice Lee.[83][84]

By the end of the Succession Wars Robinson was the center of Judaism within the Federated Suns.[2]

Jihad[edit]

In January 3071, the Word of Blake attacked Robinson.[48][49] The first shots destroyed the orbital stations, among them the Sharon habitat with its 11,000 inhabitants.[65] Fortunately for the residents of Robinson, the Blakists seemed to be unaware of a Star League era storehouse in the small town of Purki. Had they moved to occupy the otherwise strategically unimportant location, Precentor Charles Reanner was under orders to destroy the storehouse (and thus the town) with a fifty kiloton nuclear weapon.[85] It would be more than a year before Robinson was liberated at the hands of a joint Com Guard–AFFS force. Robinson was finally free on 2 February 3072.[50][51][86] Luckily for the Draconis March - and the Federated Suns as a whole - the decision by the Word of Blake to make use of Robinson Standard BattleWorks, combined with quick thinking and action on the part of the liberating forces prevented the complete destruction of the manufacturing facilities. In March of that year DMI and ComStar established a quarantine zone around Purki and the warehouse, presumably to relocate whatever was stored there.[87][88]

In 3079, Robinson was still recovering from the Jihad; the Robinson Standard BattleWorks plant had less than half of its production lines operating, while the Robinson Battle Academy, also located in the city of Tiberias, was being rebuilt in underground concrete bunkers.[3] While the Robinson Battle Academy suffered heavy damage during the Jihad and had yet to reconstitute its training battalion,[89] the Combat Training Center in Osis Minor on Solomon was still operating, training students via its infantry, battle armor, conventional armor and fighter training programs.[90]

Dark Age[edit]

The planet was attacked by the Draconis Combine in August 3144 and was conquered by the invading forces.[91]

In 3149, Republic of the Sphere forces retook the world for the Federated Suns.[92]

Thinking the world underdefended, the Combine launched a 3150 counterassault which was beaten back. As a result of their losses, Robinson was declared off limits for the immediate future, the Combine simply could not afford the cost in troops to retake the world without risking massive reprisals elsewhere.[93]

Notes[edit]

 • Handbook: House Davion lists the years of 2879 and 2891 as the year that Robinson is reclaimed by the Federated Suns. Based on supporting information within the sourcebook, 2891 appears to be the correct year. House Kurita (The Draconis Combine) also lists the date as 2891.
 • Several sources spell the capital city as Beuller, but Bueller has been confirmed as the correct spelling.
