Description

Although as of 3067 Rollis lacks a charging station, the planetary ruler of Rollis has been lobbying the Prefectorate to approve construction of at least one recharge station to help speed travel up between the Taurian Concordat and the Capellan Confederation. Rollis does possess a small orbital repair facility for DropShips and small craft.[1]

System History

Originally settled by the Taurian Concordat,[3] Rollis was one of a number of systems conquered by the Star League during the Reunification War and was effectively annexed by the Federated Suns, as of 2750.[4] The Capellan Confederation conquered the system in turn during the 1st Succession War, and as at 3130 have retained control of it since.[5][6][7]

Geography

Rollis has three continents, Como, Spruce and Wright; the capital city, New Harmon, is on Como.[2] Worthy of note is the equatorial island of Iskandia, which is the source of an unusual kind of wood noted for it's pungent aroma, strength and near-imperviousness to fire. This wood commands high prices throughout the Confederation and, via the black market, the Federated Suns Capellan March. Another island of interest is Tucson, site of the open city of Freeport; located close to a dry lakebed used as a spaceport, with the tacit approval of the planetary ruler Freeport caters to prospectors and independent traders filtering through Rollis, as well as travellers to and from the Periphery looking to acclimatize en route to their final destination. Freeport more closely resembles a Periphery settlement than it does a large Successor State city.[1]
