Rufus Kardaan was the commanding officer of the Alpha Naval Reserve of Clan Cloud Cobra as of 3067.[1]

Star Admiral Rufus Kardaan, serving with Clan Cloud Cobra's Alpha Naval Reserve, was stationed on Homer in 3067.[1] During the Wars of Reaving, Kardaan commanded the McKenna-class CCS Second Coming during his clan's campaign to liberate the Tanis system from Bandit Caste rebels and their Society partners. Arriving in the system in late 3073, Rufus was shocked to discover the Bandits utilizing the SLS Prinz Eugen as their primary defensive vessel. This momentary pause allowed a rebel Olympus-class orbital station to deliver a full salvo of capital missiles directly into the Second Coming. Reacting selflessly, Rufus charged his vessel forwards so as to protect the rest of the Cloud Cobra fleet from the station's follow-up assaults, with the Second Coming's broadside barrages tearing the enemy station apart.[2]
Unfortunately, while the Cobras would go on to destroy the Prinz Eugen and win the naval battle, the Second Coming's cracked K-F drive and damaged power output meant that it was left combat ineffective. While the DropShips it disgorged aided the Cobra assault, the Cobras would be pushed out of the system in short order and the Second Coming would be seized by Bandit and Society marines. Rufus Kardaan's fate at this point is not recorded.[2]
