Sarna Martial Academy Cadre

Template:InfoBoxStateUnit

Once the cadre unit for one of the premier military academies, first for the Capellan Confederation's Sarna Commonality and then the Federated Commonwealth's Sarna March, the poor fortunes of the Sarna Martial Academy since the days of the Chaos March have made the Sarna Martial Academy Cadre a ghost of its former self.

History

Formation

4th Succession War to Clan Invasion

Save for short duration assignments, the Cadre remained close to home on Sarna during the War of 3039 [1], and Clan Invasion [2] [3].

Operation Guerrero and Sarna Supremacy

The Cadre defended Sarna during Operation Guerrero, and later formed the core of the Sarna Supremacy military.[4] Several officers of the Cadre helped Governor Montog-Chandler form the Supremacy.[5]

Xin Sheng Campaign

After the Sarna Supremacy became a protectorate of the Confederation and its worlds were again defended by the CCAF, the Academy and the Cadre returned to a curriculum to allow its graduates to enter the Capellan military. During the Xing Sheng Campaign the Cadre was assigned to garrison duty on the logistically important world of Capella, coming under attack from the elite 1st St. Ives Lancers. Though the Cadre took heavy losses, alongside the other defenders of Capella, the Lancers were pushed off world.

Despite its service to the Confederation during that conflict, many within the CCAF still questioned the Academy's loyalties. Reduced to less than half a regiment, while boasting sufficient personnel to rebuild, the Academy lacked the material to do so. Though still operational, the Supremacy's lack of funds and the CCAF's reluctance to help meant by 3062 the Cadre operated as a reinforced battalion. [6]

As of 3067 the Cadre, reduced to an 85% strength battalion, was stationed on Lesalles. [7]

Jihad

To try and make-up for the loss of the Citizens' Honored's 15th Dracon regiment on Overton during the opening stages of Duke George Hasek’s Operation Sovereign Justice, the Capellan Strategios moved the cadre into the ex-mercenary unit brigade, more for administrative purposes than as a proper formal transfer. The loyalty issues suffered by the cadre during the Xin Sheng period faded away as the heavy losses of the Jihad made keeping the training battalion in operation vital to allow the CCAF to recoup and rebuild. While still based on Sarna, company-sized detachments were sent on peacekeeping and patrol duties into the Liao Commonality to provide cadets much needed experience. [8]

The Sarna Cadre was the only remaining MechWarrior training program in the Liao Commonality. After several years of observation, they were welcomed back to the CCAF. The unit was assigned by the Strategios to function as part of the Liao Cháng-Chéng.[9] In 3085 they were stationed on Ulan Bator.[10]

In 3145 they were stationed on Sarna.[11]

Officers

As of 3054, the Cadre was under the command of Leftenant General Glenn Myopps, having held that position since at least 3049.[2][12]

As of 3063 the commanding officer was Colonel Tan Strangleit.[6]

As of 3067, the Cadre was under the command of Sang-shao Jacob Tao. [7]

As of 3085 the Cadre was commanded by Zhong-shao Jang Humay.[10]

In 3145 the Cadre was led by Zhong-shao Gayatri Malhotra.[11]

Tactics

While practicing textbook regimental tactics for most of its existence, after the Pyrrhic victory on Capella the Cadre has increased focused on small-unit tactics. [6]
