Planetary Info

Satalice has three continents, Boleslav where the capital city is located, Liberec and Jane. It is covered by large volcanic plains that are subjected to harsh weather. The humans who colonized the world gathered in a few pockets of the world that were absolutely beautiful. It was taken by Clan Wolf during the Clan Invasion in 3051. The Wolves began building a manufacturing center and ten years later it was operating. Unfortunately the Ghost Bears took the world from the Wolves shortly after the plant began production.[1]

Planetary History

Fourth Succession War

In mid-3029, following several months of consolidation in the aftermath of Operation GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG, the Lyran Commonwealth went on the offensive again in the Trellshire and Tamar theatres of operation. While a large part of the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces' attention went into trying to win ongoing conflicts on a handful of worlds, seven new planetary assaults were launched. Satalice was one of the worlds attacked, because of the prescence of a DCMS BattleMech regiment on the planet. That regiment - the Ninth Rasalhague Regulars - had been based on Hyperion prior to the Fourth Succession War, but had withdrawn to Satalice during the early stages of the war. The LCAF dropped Hansen's Roughriders and the Waco Rangers on Satalice, and the two mercenary commands spent several months maneuvering against the Ninth in a campaign marked by good coordination between the mercenary units and their supporting conventional forces. The culmination of the maneuvre campaign came when the two mercenary units caught the Ninth in the rich Mizona Valley; keenly aware of the danger of being surrounded and wiped out, the Ninth abandoned Satalice after a race to their DropShips.[45]

Clan Invasion

In November 3051 Satalice was attacked by Clan Wolf during the Fifth Wave of the resumed Operation REVIVAL. Opposing the invading Fourth and Eleventh Wolf Guards were the Third Drakøns along with the First and Second Satalice Armored Divisions, with major battles taking place at Cat's Bend, the Blue Lava Fields and Republic City. Both Wolf Guards units had dispensed with the traditional bidding process and decided to compete against each other in conquering the planet, with the winner decided by who had accumulated more "trophies" (unit insignias taken from an enemy 'Mech). When Överste Adrian MacGalliard, commander of the Drakøns, deduced this fact he tried to draw the two competing units into ambushes by using his own 'Mechs as bait; unfortunately this tactic did not work for long when the Wolves turned their aerospace forces on his ambush sites.[46]

Beyond the loss of the planet to Clan Wolf the battle was also notable for the capture of Ragnar Magnusson, son of Elected Prince Haakon Magnusson. A company commander in the Drakøns, his unit had been chased onto the Blue Lava Fields whereupon he was defeated in a duel with Star Commander Phelan Kell. The loss of their prince caused the rest of the Drakøns to retreat to Skandia in January 3052.[46]
