History
The DCS Seoul was a WarShip and carrier serving in the Draconis Combine Admiralty during the late Star League era. Following the eruption of the Amaris Coup, a combination of hostages held on Terra, thinly-veiled threats from Stefan Amaris and the deathbed orders of Takiro Kurita forced Coordinator Minoru Kurita to close the borders of the Draconis Combine to the Star League Defense Force led by Commanding General Aleksandr Kerensky. Whilst this forced Kerensky to invade several Combine systems to regain access to SLDF facilities, Minoru ordered the DCMS units facing the SLDF forces to fight for a few minutes only, before executing orderly retreats. Some DCMS personnel went further still, defecting as ronin to the SLDF. Amongst those forces and units that defected were the Seoul, which had been damaged, and two of her escort vessels - the battleships DCS Kumamoto and DCS Shizuoka.[1]
Notes
Although the class of the DCS Seoul isn't given in Handbook: House Kurita, the only class of WarShip specifically described as a carrier to be manufactured natively by the Draconis Combine prior to the end of the Star League era was the Samarkand, of which there were two blocks. At least three Samarkands not only served as SLDF vessels but survived the Hegemony Campaign and joined Kerensky's forces on the Exodus, the Beijing[2], the Yorktown[3] and the Deal Breaker.[4] It would therefore seem likely that the Seoul was a Samarkand, although this hasn't been confirmed in canon. Given the propensity displayed by Clan Diamond Shark for renaming WarShips, it is even potentially possible that the Seoul could be the same ship later identified as the Deal Breaker during the Wars of Reaving, although this is purely speculation.
