Sang-shao Shaiming Tao was the commander of the Second McCarron's Armored Cavalry, with the Capellan Confederation, from at least 3135 until his death in 3146.[1][2][3]

Personal Appearance[edit]

As of 3135 Tao had a broad and deeply creased forehead, a narrow mouth, and a small chin.[2]

History[edit]

Liao[edit]

In November 3135 Tao was based on Liao with the Second MAC. On the first of the month he had a meeting with Danai Liao-Centrella, following her return from failure on New Hessen, which he criticized her for. Despite his displeasure, he was however required to inform Danai of her promotion from Sang-wei to Sao-shao, which had been decreed by her relative Chancellor Daoshen Liao.[2]

Federated Suns Campaign[edit]

Only rarely returning to their home base on Menke, Tao and the Second spent the decade from 3135 to 3145 mostly fighting against the Federated Suns, in a campaign which become infamous for its brutality. While nominally under Tao commander however, the Second was strongly influenced by Xavier McCarron and his two sons, who Xavier deployed with the Second in order to train them for future leadership.[4]

As an Regimental commander, Tao kept himself aloof from his officers, so much so that they considered his personality a closed and sealed book.[5] He did not explain orders to his subordinates, but would rather insist them should be honored to receive them, and that they should not be questioned.[6]

As of December 3145, Tao and the Second McCarron's Armored Cavalry were based on New Hessen as of 3145.[1]

Death[edit]

Tao participated in the Battle of Marlette in August 3146, which was an attempt to destroy an Armed Forces of the Federated Suns base, but failed as Marlette was a trap set by Julian Davion. While Tao attempted to use navel bombardment from his WarShip support the CCS Ilsa Hyung in level the odds against his foes, it was ultimately destroyed by Davion's Clan Sea Fox allies, leaving Tao to desperately search for ways to complete his mission.

This ended when the Second's casualties in this battle came to include Sang-shao Tao and his aide, who were killed in a First Kestrel Grenadiers air strike on his temporary headquarters, on 2 September. Following his death, Tao was replaced as CO of the Regiment by Danai Liao-Centrella.[7][3]
