Planetary Info

Soul is a generally inhospitable world, one on which the survival skills of the average inhabitant are regularly tested. The reasons for Soul's unforgiving environment are a combination of the dimness of the system's star, as well as Soul's lack of an axial tilt. This means that Soul doesn't experience any significant seasonal changes, but rather an endless succession of cold but bright sunlight and bitingly cold nights. This has shaped the growth of the settlements on Soul; the capital city, Terminus, is located on the continent of Soul at the planetary north pole, sitting on the permanent terminator between night and day, while the planetary equator is girdled by a network of huge greenhouses kept warm and lit through extensive use of fusion power to provide food for those who have to dwell on this cold ice ball of a planet.[1]

Planetary History

Post-Jihad Era

The main defense industry on the planet, Blankenburg Technologies, avoided taking any damage during the Jihad and has developed the plant into an entirely self-reliant facility. Located near the city of Lumina on the Eternus continent, the complex uses massive heating systems to melt through the icy surface of the planet and access raw materials, which it then extracts, processes and uses in manufacturing on site. This leaves the Blankenburg plant requiring the minimum of external support while it produces everything from complete 'Mechs to individual weapons and components on site.[33] The plant is even protected by the products of its own labor; eight turrets equipped with LB-X Autocannons ring the facility, operated by remote control, and backed up by pairs of manned emplacements at every entrance, all intended to slow attacking forces until security forces arrive.[34]

Military Deployment
