He and his brother joined the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces and were active during early years of the Age of War. His brother & he served during their father's five-year Long March Offensive against House Kurita & House Marik until 2467. In June, he father Alistair was assassinated by who was believed to be their uncle, Duke Michael Reynolds.

He and his brother Michael were recalled from the frontline of the war to Tharkad. On their arrival, they found government was in paralyzed from death of the Archon. His brother, then was sworn in as new Archon and begun to try bring their great house into order. He then promoted Steven to Command entire all Commonwealth Armed forces.

Marriage and the Dark Times

During Steven's reign as Archon, his family went through rough times. First, he begun a serious relationship with a LCAF's First Royal Guards Armor Brigade Regimental Tank commander named Colonel Margaret Olsen, whom was station on Tharkad.[2]

In 2468, his younger sister, the Duchess Tatyana Steiner, was revealed to have severe case of Dobrowski Depression-A Syndrome. This lead to her having love a affair two years later with married man and had illegitimate child, Robert Steiner.

On eve of his double wedding ceremony with his brother in 2471, Tatyana committed suicide. Archon, not wanting the ceremony to be victim of the despair that claimed his sister insisted to carry on wedding. Steven and his brother both pledged to help raise and take care of their late sister's child.

Steven's life is disrupted by a terrible earthquake that shatters Tharkad City and the palace. Michael's bride, Regina McQuiston was killed along with a large portion of the Estate General's representatives. Steven rest of the family pitch in to help the relief efforts for the city, which many of its population are homeless in cold Tharkad winter gripping the landscape. Archon, opens the damaged palace to refugees and nobility help with kitchen work and rescue efforts.

However, turn effects accrue no one could predict. The Draconis Combine, learning of the disaster on Tharkad, took advantage of the situation and attacked the Commonwealth. Then, Michael feeling the loss of both his sister and his bride announced he was unable to continue governing the Commonwealth and handed the Archonship over to Steven.[3] Michael then assembles battalion worth of BattleMechs & Tanks, then head off to counter the Kurita incursion. His brother dies heroically ending the Kurita invasion on Nox.

Archonship and Missteps

Soon after assuming the throne, Steven begun find though was excellent field commander, he did not have his brother's skills in politics. Steven had to resort, to wimps, hunches, and advice of his disturbed wife, Margaret. Margaret has become unbalanced and eccentric years after the having life-saving abortion at six months.[4]

In 2488, botched Lyran Intelligence Operation later known as the Loki Incident occurred on the Kurita world of Vega. There, Loki agents had attempted to hit Kurita Air Base, but found themselves captured & held hostage by planetary ruler. On ill-advice of his wife, Steven felt it was best to acknowledge the existence of the secret organization, fearing the public's reaction to discover that their government had a stated funded organization. The Loki agents were executed publicly, and footage of the execution was made public. Despite his misgivings, the Commonwealth citizenry were not upset by the existence of Loki.

Steven's indecision grew worse, as he denied the existence of the secret organization on advice of his wife's zodiac cards. The execution of their fellow commandos triggered large number of Loki agents to defection to House Kurita. The defected commandos committed number of senseless rampages of murders, were not stopped until they were hunted down and killed.

During his reign, the Dukes of Tamar and Skye began plotting to overthrow the Archonship, where they convinced Steven to over rule forbade a noble to maintain personal troops that outnumbered Commonwealth troops on their respective world. Members of his military's high command tried to convince Steven to reinstate the law, but failed due to his indecisiveness and his wife's erratic advice. This led to the loss of worlds gained by his father's Long March Offensive.

However, he was able to be convinced to allow his nephew Robert join the LCAF as Aerospace Fighter pilot. Near the end or his life, the Royal court was full of cult leaders, unscrupulous politicians and nobles who favor his wife. He died in 2501, where his demented wife declared herself as Archon.[5]
