Description[edit]

The Storm Giant is an early Clan Steel Viper BattleMech introduced in the Golden Century by Khan Sanra Mercer to fight on New Kent. Using the heat of the planet to their advantage, the Storm Giant uses high heat dissipation with low-heat weapons to defeat foes.

Seeking matériel to outfit Freeborn troops newly allowed into the Viper touman, beginning in 3062 the Storm Giant was revived and refitted to become the "new" Scylla assault BattleMech, named after a sea monster from Greek mythology [4]

Weapons and Equipment[edit]

To take advantage of the high heat of New Kent, Steel Viper techs installed low-heat weapons. The main firepower comes arm mounted LRM-20s with two tons of ammunition each. Once the enemy closes the range, they face a pair of Streak SRM-6s and an Ultra AC/20 that will quickly breach even the thickest armor. The Streaks share a ton of ammunition and the autocannon has three tons of ammunition. The Streaks are very efficient, but the Ultra AC can quickly run out of ammunition if the pilot isn't careful.

Seventeen double heat sinks are carried by the Storm Giant, some in the XL engine and others elsewhere in the 'Mech's Endo Steel chassis. The 'Mech carries eighteen and a half tons of armor and CASE protects all the ammunition.[3]
