Description[edit]

The first and the heaviest of the Word of Blake's three Spectral Series OmniFighters, the almost alien looking Striga is named for the vampiric, transformed spirits of ancient lore.[2]

Precentor Vapula's first foray into aerospace fighter technology, the Striga is based in part on the knowledge gained by the Blakists' work on the FWLM's Shiva OmniFighter, but takes it in entirely different areas with an ultracompact cockpit and multidirectional thrusters that only the elite cyber-enhanced Manei Domini can hope to take full advantage of. The multipositional thrusters and collapsible wing structures also lend the Spectrals their hallmark, almost halving the fighter's profile to the point it resembles a shuttle or escape pod in vacuum.[2]

Using a massive 340 XL engine and 18 tons of Divine Shield-D ferro-aluminum armor, the Striga is fast and formidably protected, while mounting 13 fixed double heat sinks and still leaving 43.5 tons available in pod space.[2]

Weapons and Equipment[edit]

The primary Invictus configuration mounts impressive forward firing weaponry with a nose-mounted Gauss rifle, supported by a heavy PPC under each wing. Twin ER medium lasers mounted in the nose and aft provide backup support once the two tons of Gauss reloads are expended. Two additional double heat sinks attempt to combat the high waste heat of a large energy weapon loadout, with CASE added in the event of a Gauss rifle rupture.[2]

Alternate Configurations[edit]

  • Alternate Configuration A (Dominus
The Dominus configuration offers impressive firepower in the form of a RAC/5 and Streak SRM-4 in each wing. The Dominus' CASE protected ammo bays carry six tons of autocannon reloads and one ton of Streak missiles, with a single nose-mounted heavy PPC to defend itself as it withdraws to rearm. BV (2.0) = 2,538[2] or 2,535[4]
  • Alternate Configuration C (Comminus
A short range configuration, the Comminus mounts four ER medium lasers in its nose, supported by three Streak SRM-6 launchers fitted under each wing, and an additional two ER medium lasers fixed aft. An additional six double heat sinks attempt to keep the heat of this variant under control to prevent two tons of CASE protected Streak missile reloads from cooking off. BV (2.0) = 2,201[2][6]
  • Alternate Configuration D (Luminos
The Luminos configuration mounts a balance of ranged energy weapons, armed with three ER PPCs, one in the nose and each wing respectively, supported by four ER medium lasers, two in the nose and two aft, and single rear facing ER small laser. An additional 11 double heat sinks strain to control all the waste heat, while a targeting computer makes each shot count. BV (2.0) = 2,388[2] or 2,443[7]
  • Alternate Configuration E (Eminus
A configuration of balanced ranges, the Eminus mounts two ER medium lasers under each wing in support of a trio of CASE protected light Gauss rifles supplied with three tons of reloads fitted in the nose. BV (2.0) = 2,055[2][8]

Notes[edit]

  • The word Striga resembles Strzyga in Polish. There are few versions of what Strzyga is: One says that it is a humanoid monster brought to life with magic (known from The Witcher series), another says it is a human child with two rows of teeth, two hearts and two souls, born as a child with teeth. These were supposed to feed on human blood, so such newborns were banished from Slavic villages.
